First of all: regardless of whether you own Payday 2 or not, everyone should take part of Crimefest: by simply joining the official Payday 2 usergroup on Steam, you get a lot of free content added to Payday 2, on top of Payday: The Heist being free to download on Steam on October 18.
Second: It's come to my attention nobody really talks about Overkill'sBag-Moving Simulator co-op robbery PvE FPS Payday 2. I understand before that the game was a little unrefined, buggy, and subject to huge amounts of grind, but since Patch 35 they fixed the grinding problem and the game's generally gotten less buggy with each patch. It's a lot of fun, that's practically all I've played since Patch 35.
So, with that out of the way... how's the Hotline Miami DLC been treating my fellow heisters?
Personally, I love all the new masks that have been added, they're so delightfully creepy on top of being a great crossover. The melee weapons are mostly useless compared to other existing melees, except most of them are pretty gratifying to use, like beating a mobster to death with a briefcase and fireaxe. The SMGs are pretty good, by no means the best guns that you can use for your secondary, but they aren't awful compared to the vanilla SMGs.
The heist is really hectic but not a lot of fun, to be honest. Day One is a complete blast between the risk vs. reward gameplay for securing extra loot at the cost of putting yourself and your crew at a greater risk. Day Two is crying miserable when it comes to fighting the Commissar: not only is it a huge letdown that the fight culminates into babysitting another thermal drill for five minutes, but the area you have to defend in is way too open while being way too small: you're overwhelmed by the tiniest SWAT squads and snipers = gods. The reward at the end of the heist is at least really worth the huge risk.
And at the very least, the DLC is worth getting solely because of EVIL EYE playing in the background of the heists.
So, thoughts on the DLC, or Payday 2 in general? Any preferred loadouts, any favorite heists, any complaints about the PC specs or the high price of the DLCs?
