I ALWAYS recommend "Galactic Civilizations 2: Endless Universe".

It's probably the BEST 4X game on PC, or any other system.

I've noticed that Deus Ex, SWAT 4, Hitman: Blood Money, and Amnesia: The Dark Descent isn't on the list...

*taps foot expectantly*

Well?

In my defence, I played Deus Ex and liked it, I have Blood Money and like that as well but I already have each of their games and i'm getting Absolution so no recommendations needed for that genre, also Amnesia I should probably look into >.<

Ah Shadow Magic :D Absolutely love that game, in fact I've played Gal Civ 2 rather a lot too and I still prefer Shadow Magic.

I'm going to say AI War because seriously it's in a league of its own, technically an RTS but really it's a very different form of 4X with an RTS interface and I know it runs on intel chipsets as my desktop died and I have to use my shoddy laptop at the moment and it runs flawlessly.

Solium Infernum is worth a look too but it has a lot of problems with interface and AI that drag it down somewhat, the underlying game is amazing though.

EDIT: Adding AI War trailer...

Cool stuff. I wish Alpha Centauri got a remake, because I got it off GOG and it's unplayable to me.

Yeah I used to enjoy Alpha Centauri. Although not enough to buy it off GOG. Could do with a more modern version.

Torchlight 2 is a no brainer.

I'd also suggest Minecraft (as I think it's the best ever) but it would probably tear your PC to shreds.

Hmmm...a lot like my own playlist, so I'm going to throw this out there: Fallout tactics, for RPG and tactics, could be worth a shot, and it's cheap as dirt.

Dragon age origin's expansion? Awakenings, it's pretty good. Medieval 2 has the Kingdoms expansion, it's pretty good, but also means you can use more mods that's out on the net. Why don't you have the old Rome total war? It's still great!

I noticed Star Wars BF2...how about Star Wars, Republic Commando? That's a great game, lots of fun. :-D

I got it on sale, lol. But yeah, love 4x games. About the only strategy type of game that I like, aside the odd Atlus PS2/PSP SRPG release, lol.

That's the odd thing about AI War, it looks like an RTS but really it's a 4X, but a damned weird one as you want to keep your expansion to a minimum and only take key places otherwise the AI gets really annoyed (i.e. starts killing you hard)

Recently i've gone through a period of intense boredom due to the fact that i've finished all of the current PC games I own probably 4 or more times over. It would be really great if any of you guys would be able to recommend some great PC games for me to purchase in the future. (most games i've enjoyed seem to indicate a preference for RPG's and the like)

games I have enjoyed (just for an idea of what kind i'm looking for):
Mount & Blade (the entire series)
Medieval Total War 2
Dungeon Keeper 2
Heroes V (expansions as well)
Diablo 1 and 2
Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines
Dragon Age - Origins
KOTOR 1 and 2
Star Wars BF2
Morrowing, Oblivion, Skyrim
Fallout 3 and NV

Currently Looking into:
Jade Empire
Titan Quest

PC Info(it's a laptop and not all that great for new releases):
Intel Pentium Dual-Core T4200 @ 2.0 GHz
4 GB Ram (roughly 3 GB usable according to system checks)
Mobile Intel 4 Express Chipset Family (not sure on specifics)

If anyone could help me with this I would be really appreciative.
You should be able to play all of this and its just games off the top of my head that I enjoy now or have always enjoyed

XCom: no no no, the old one made in 1993. Its still amazing and judging by the demo for the new one its IMO better then the upcoming one
Descent
Deus Ex
System shock 2
Dungeon defenders
Legend of Grimmrock
Skydrift
Master of Orion 2

and some Free to play games you might look into

Blacklight: Retribution
Gotham City imposters
Super monday night combat
League of legends

Guild Wars 2 has probably the most bang for your buck of any game in existence. It's basically three games in one: PvE, PvP, and World vs World, which all feel very different from each other and can each keep you occupied for hundreds of hours. Even if you pick just one and stick with it (like me, with PvE). And all for $60. (You really don't have to ever spend another dollar on the game. It has one of the fairest cash shops I've ever seen.)

It might appeal to you, since you don't seem to play MMOs but you do like RPGs, and GW2 feels more like a multiplayer RPG than an MMO...if you see what I mean. You don't have to make it into a second job, and you can play with other people without interacting with them, which is always the best kind of multiplayer.

The story is okay, but the lore is great. The NPCs' random chatter is fantastic, as is a lot of the event dialogue. The combat is better than it is in most non-action RPGs, and there is a heavy focus on exploration and just doing whatever the hell you feel like at any given time.

Also, it still looks quite good on medium-to-low settings.

Yes, look at Jade Empire since you're working with those specs and like Bioware rpgs. It's a port of an XBox game, and its controls are a bit goofy, but the game works well enough, and it's an unusual addition to Bioware's titles.

The Witcher, meaning the first game, seems like it might be a good fit for you. GOG and Steam both have a decent price on it, and it's a long and satisfying rpg.

Risen, the first post-Gothic rpg from Piranha Bytes, might be another good choice if you don't mind not having your hand held.

A lot of good games already listed. I'll highlight two that, from your list, I think you will enjoy. The are also both very affordable on Steam:

Bastion - I bought this purely based on the fact a lot of escapist staff loved it. Its a good story, simple controls, lots of action and the visuals/sound really create a great atmosphere. Action/RPG with more emphasis on action.

Torchlight 2 - I never played the first one but, as a diablo fan, this has been a more fun experience than D3. Its very similar to D2 in a lot of ways - all of them good.

Dawn of War is really great and should run fine on your laptop. DON'T get Dawn of War II. It will take a gigantic poo when it meets your video chip. http://store.steampowered.com/app/4570/

Dwarf Fortress. It's free, DRM-free and fantastic.

http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/features.html

It's a very different experience from most games. It's got an insane difficulty cruve, but it's certainly a challenge. How awesome is it? Very awesome.

Exactly how awesome? Let the legends of Boatmurdered testify to that.

Aw man Mout& Blade and you need more? I agree with most of what's above, lately i've found FTL to be a fun and difficult little game (it's on GoG, along with Carmaggeddon at long last).

X-Com Aocalypse is better than the first and had some serious depth involved in guarding a single city where you see all the building get destroyed in firefights.

Don't know if you like MMO's, I don't, but I found Star Trek Online to be quiet engaging, and it's free to play.

I thought AoW was pretty good, but I just love the space thing.

Oh god...
Boatmurdered...

Absolutely hilarious, especially at the end.

But listen to this guy. Dwarf Fortress is fun. Getting into it is like walking into a wall, but there are tutorials out there that will level the wall so you can just walk on in.
Although, not 1 person I know has actually lived on their first playthrough. Most died due to dehydration. One guy made it to a goblin raid, and one guy made the mistake of embarking in a savage Biome, where giant Panda's tore his Dwarfs to shreds. Be careful, and if you ever get bored - lose. Losing is fun [Especially when it involves the Circus].
