Im looking for games "war-related" where you get "spoils of war". What do i mean by spoils of war? Simple, when you finish the mission you get things. For example, in MechWarrior 4 mercenaries, if you "crippled" but not destroyed the enemy mechs, or you get to kill the pilots before entering some mechas, at the end of the mission you were able to recover some of this things for you and you were able to use them in the next mission.

Im looking for games like that. They could be mecha, tanks or any other "war machines". It can be first person shooter (like armored core), first person/third person shotter (alone or with ai like mechwarrior), strategy game (like metal fatigue); it doesnt matter.

They can be as new as yesterday or as old as 1990. I just want the feature of "you keep what you kill". It can be at the end of the mission (like mechwarrior) or it can be during the mission (like metal fatigue or panzers 2)... although i would rather preffer that this spoils of war are kept from mission to mission (in panzers 2 you can get enemy tanks but only can be used for the current mission, you dont get to keep them in the next one).

Of course, single player is preffered... although if there is a nice multi-player game that has this feature i would give a try.

I have already player pretty much all the mechwarrior/commander universe, metal fatigue, panzers 2, among others.
Any recommendation will be extremelly appreciated.

Have you played any of the games in the Mount & Blade "series"? In M&B Warband (stand alone improvement of the original M&B) you roam around the map of a fantasy medieval continent on your horse trying to make a name for your self. You can align your self with a kingdom and fight for it or you can be a rampaging leader of a band thieves who plunder trade routes or you can work hard to start and defend your own kingdom. The game is very sandbox-y and there are no true way to play it.

When you attack an enemy you go into a battlefield and a 1st/3rd-person game-mode where you command your troops and lead a charge or defense. You can hold or attack castles or cities as well as open battlefields. If you win you get to loot stuff from your fallen foes. Stuff like weapons, armor, food, books and horses. Combat is a very hands on thing where you swing your blade as your swipe your mouse around. It takes a bit of practice (turn difficulty way down in the beginning) but that just makes it more rewarding when your are standing on top of a castle wall behind the crenelations with your favorite war axe slaughtering anyone who tries to climb up YOUR wall.

M&B Warband is really worth checking out and it has some fantastic mods. For MP i recommend the cRPG-mod. Your character carries over to the next game in cRPG and you can earn money for buying upgrades which is different from the normal game. I haven't played in a while so I don't know if people still play. But it wouldn't surprise me since it's a lot of fun.

M:B With Fire & Sword (Stand-alone expansion (or really an official mod)) is the same thing but based in a 1650-ish With Fire & Sword [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/With_Fire_and_Sword]'s Europe. So you have muskets along with your bows and crossbows.

I personally think M&B Warband is the better game. You can get the demo on steam if you want to check it out.

You might like dawn of war 2 and its expansions.
It is an RTS and the single player has rpg elements, like you get to level up your squads and choose their attributes. On missions you get to collect "wargear" which is basically just loot drops / "spoils of war"
It also has coop which is nice

I've tried M&B... it wasnt "exactly" what i was looking for... but it was good. There is a high chance i will be getting that game.

I also played dawn of war 2.

In both you get "drops"... although in M&B is closer to what i was looking for than dawn of war.

Just to give an idea of what im looking for:
Lets take M&B for example... granted, you loot the enemy if you win, which grants you "equipment" for you to use in the future... but in order to be what im looking for would have to be something like if you defeat the enemy general or you overcome the enemy army and you take prisioners, you manage to "increase" your army. For example, the enemy army had 10 archers, 20 soldiers and 10 cavalry. You won and killed just 5 soldiers, you have a % to get some of the archers, some of the soldiers and some of the cavalry join your side and in the next battle, you have your army plus this.

What i mean is a game where you get "rewarded" for playing more strategic rather than just destroying everything. It can be troops, buildings, equipment, anything that you can use.

I want a game that "challenges" me to get better at winning. For example, in Mechwarriors 4, you could just blast everything from the start... but if instead of that, you sneaked in the enemy base and destroyed the barracks (in one of the missions), you could manage to "salvage" 5 entire mechs without any harm and all available for you to use. Also you got aditional "spoils of war" of the things you did destroyed (like tanks, mechs, planes, etc)... but it was more "rewarding" and i enjoyed more when i was able to max out the "salvaging" of every mission and i found myself more than once replaying the mission just to get more out of it.

Again, i really appreciate your recommendations. If i find a game of my liking by other means, i will post it here so if there are others in the future with the same search, they will be able to find it faster.
