This in every way shape and form!snagli said:Tell me, have you ever eaten a banana?
Only when you take a bite it turns out it's made of plastic.
And it's filled with poo.
And if you ask the guy you bought it from he just says "You bought it, it's your problem now".
If you have ever done that, then there's no need to repeat it by using Origin.
Wow you must be an EA fanboy! You love getting account bans and losing all your games for a forum crime.Zachary Amaranth said:In a word: You said it.ZeroMachine said:This "Origin is EVIL" stuff all fear mongering or something?
It's even funnier because the scaremongering was over stuff the beloved Steam does.
Regardless of Valve's track record, EA, from its inception to present day has had serious problems with their business ethics. Whether it's in dealing with their developers or fucking over their customers. They even had internal strife that ended in a class-action lawsuit (nearly 3, actually).Keava said:It's also much easier to be clean when You are single developer/publisher studio and put out 1 game every hundred years, while EA has multiple studios below them and puts out several games a year. Easy to not be guilty if You don't do anything![]()
Valve has come out with a press release saying that if they ever go under, they'll patch all your Steam games so they can run without Steam.willis888 said:lol
I would not touch it with a standard issue 10' pole.
I said the same thing about Steam until someone gave me a free copy of Skyrim. I guess I'd create an Origin account if someone gave me a free copy of Dragon Age 3.
I'll never give money to either service. When those companies go out of business, and they will eventually, you can kiss your games collection goodby.
I'd much rather buy install disks from Amazon or some other online retailer.
Yup, you nailed me. I'm a fanboy for a company from which I haven't bought any games in like 2 years!bootz said:Wow you must be an EA fanboy! You love getting account bans and losing all your games for a forum crime.
I live in Australia. We get stupid markups on games here - Steam (with some exceptions) is the cheapest way for me to get new games. Sometimes I'll find gold in an IRL bargain bin, and sometimes Steam will push something up from its price in America (MW3 for $100? Really? When it sells hardcopy in the US for 60?) but aside from those, I can live with some minor hassles to get games on the cheap.Keava said:Oh. A discount. From 49 euro to 29 euro. You know... it's still more expensive than at local B&M because 29 euro is average price for new game in Poland. Because Valve refuses to use local currency.
I personally don't have ANY complaints about Steam in any sense, so I don't see why competition is necessary. Prices are fair, sales are good, varied and often, pre order bonuses if you like that sort of thing, in game UI is easy and very useful, expansive forums full of nerds and geniuses. Valve fanboy's can get a little annoying sometimes, but the all round service is pretty damn good in my opinion.Keava said:Because it's not their "beloved" Steam. People really need to realize we need much more competition on digital distribution market if we ever want to have base game price to go down. Currently the only 2 that people speak of are Steam and Origin, but there is GameStop's Impulse, Desura (indie games), GamersGate (mainly for UK people), D2D and GoG (classics and soon indie games). That's not really all that much compared to all the retail chains world wide that sell games.
Monopoly = Bad. Variation = Good.
The idea is to buy the game where You get the best offer. That way You give other services a sign that They could improve.
Isn't taking away someone's access to every game they bought with the service with hardly any warning doing that "at any point in time"? Although it is for forum bans, it's still another broken promise on EA's part. And I've never seen anyone call out Steam because they woke up and all their games were gone. If you have, could you post a link?Keava said:Origin at least promises 2 years. Steam can do it at any point in time.
