Console owners don't have to pay for Xbox Live either, they can get the free Silver membership if they want to. They only have to pay for Xbox Live if they want multiplayer and all the other benefits of a Gold membership.
PC owners won't have to pay for multiplayer, but that not the same as them being granted an Xbox Live Gold membership for free.
What the PC owners are getting as free as part of the OS license and what console owners pay for as part for a Gold subscription aren't even comparable products. PC owners aren't going to get free Games With Gold for example, or discount on Xbox Live games just for having a PC with Windows 10 installed on it.
Saying "PC owners won't have to pay for Xbox Live while console owners do" is either a dishonest or naive representation of the facts of the matter and the differences between the two platforms.
You could make an equally false and sensational point by saying that "Xbox Owners Get Given Windows For Free Unlike PC Owners Who Are Forced To Pay For A License!" when pointing to the fact that the OS comes as part of the console and isn't bought separately.
you're changing the goal posts, pc users get multiplayer free, while silver users do not, and even then, that's not including all other functions outside of gaming that you have on a pc right off the bat to keep the comparison within the topic at hand. "all the other benefits of a gold membership"...besides the "free games with gold", which even then, isn't that great, what other benefits do they get that pc users do not
for free? It's been a while, but do they still hide netflix behind the pay wall, or do silver users finally get to use it too?
and games for gold is a relatively new concept that microsoft *had* to come up with to stay competitive, before that you were paying for multiplayer and being able to use your netflix account, which is laughable at best when you're already paying for the netflix subscription and internet.
