I'm really looking forward to Turtle Rock and Valve's game Left 4 Dead. If you haven't heard of it yet it's a 4 player zombie survival, and it looks great!

Developed for console as well (360). I'm just saying.

Judging from the size of the thread (all of 20+ posts) to almost any console thread, one could certainly make the argument that PC gaming is being marginalized to those titles that are optimized for the PC experience.

Check the list that was posted earlier - it's a roll call of RTS's and MMORPG's. Times are tough for the PC gamer, though several large studios (notable Microsoft) have made real attempts to keep PC gaming viable.

There will be some titles like: MassEffect(xbox port), Alone in The Dark (multiplatform), Farcry2....

But my point is in total there are really really few titles which the pc gamer has to look forward for >.<

What do you ppl think?
Can you list other games besides the 100000x sequel to fifa/nhl/nfs/battlefield (ea lol ;) )
STARCRAFT 2! that's what i think!

I don't own any consoles, so I hate it when games are released only for one platform. They could at least develop a converter for us PC gamers..
Hopefully it will pick up in the future, not counting on it though as the PS3 is so popular.

Every damn year someone comes out and says this...its getting retarded because ti only takes a few seconds to search a review site for upcoming titles...

Great list of released and upcoming titles announced for 2008: http://www.systemwars.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1873451&postcount=1

'nuff said.
80 % off the games are unkniown/not for all kind of pcgamer
Like Mmorpgs -> i doubt that anyone plays like all mmorpgs out there
There are 1-2 games on the rest of the list but the core are the multiplatform games >.<

I don't mean to be a party-pooper, but the fact that Duke Nukem Forever is on that list...
Also, there's a lot of fan-made games on that list making it less and less credible as an "awesome list".

Don't get me wrong, I'm really looking forward to some of the titles there, but I wouldn't really call that an awesome list.

I can't believe you guys can look at the list and say thing things you're saying. 1-2 games? Mostly unknown? If you play PC games you should know at least 20 of those games and be looking forward to them (they're from developers with a lot of high profile games, Adventure, RPG, Strategy, and Action).

And again, I must reiterate that the list is not changed by the fact that you were ignorant of the titles before. Now you know about them...the list shows that PC gaming is not dead. If you're a console gamer first, then obviously you weren't' going to know about those games. I thought about breaking down the list into well-known and obscure developers (exclusive only), but when I got to #50 of the well known and 25 obscure, I said screw this...since the page I was working on (cut and pasted) had about 3/4 of the scroll bar left to go). And I hadn't even made it through the RPG list.

I guess if all you read were multiplatform game list at the bottom then yes, many of those are available on the x360 too; but does that have any bearing on someone who doesn't own one? And even if they do own one, it's still a choice.

The market is shifting from big AAA games to more cheap indie games.

PC gaming won't die because PCs won't go away. As long as there are PCs, someone, somewhere, with little development money, will look to the PC to release his game. PCs always have the highest install base, especially for low graphically intense games.

You aren't seeing the death of PC games, just a shift in focus.

Since I play almost exclusively FPSs the shift doesn't bother me too much. ExtremeTech has a good interview with Alex St. John regarding his views of the future of PC gaming. Personally I have so many games I've not loaded yet that I wouldn't be purchasing anything soon anyway, plus there are a lot of existing games I've not yet picked up. There is definitely a traditional PC gaming slump from January through September, but this year is probably better than most in new titles.

Also, one advantage of PC gaming is that older titles can often be picked up quite cheaply. Doesn't quite make up for the consoles' rental market, but it does help keep the cost down.

Better than what the Wii is getting, and it's the most popular console out there.

Dragon Age! Mass Effect was good and all, but screw the shooting I want traditional turn based battles melded into a real-time-with-pause battle system! Go Bioware!

To the people who say PC has nothing good coming out... you are free to say that, but I may not hear you once I'm busy with STALKER: Clear Sky.

There's tons of new games coming out on PC.

Like, uh, Starcraft 2 and Spore.

Plus don't forget that the most popular online game is PC based (another expansion soon?), and PC's offer a level of modding and customisation in games that the XBOX and PS3 are nowhere near to competing with. Also, a lot of the older games are better than current or future games anyway; just off the top of my head, Medieval Total War is a classic and PC only, and in my opinion is greater than something like C&C3 on the 360.

Now don't flame and go "oh, M:TW isn't even real-time" because it is (partly), and I am aware that C&C is also on PC. Seriously though, don't write off PC games. Gaming started on PC and it's sure as hell gonna stay there along with the consoles. Console games are designed for the masses - PC games are designed for the hardcore.

Unless it's by EA.

There's nothing wrong with multi-platform titles ... provided they were developed for PC first and then ported to the various TV accessories. Going the other way may make for an easy dev but an unsatisfying port.

People have been fearing this for years.

But when you look at it, are games consoles in a better position. Take away all the mediocre games, not really. There's just less games getting released in general.

Apart from the DS, because it's obviously so easy to port a mediocre 80s/90s puzzle game onto one of their catridges and charge £20 for it.

Can you play... say, WoW on a console?

The problem is perhaps not the frequency of releases for PC, but the replayability of games. Ever tried not buying new games? RRR and PsychoNauts were two huge surprises for me, and online gaming never gets old.
