I remember old PC games. Old PC games that push the boundaries of entertainment.

Which PC game do you remember of the top of your head that instantly fill you with nostalgia and glee ?

For me, It was Pain Killer. Simply cause of how simple and brutal it was, such variety of enemies and boss battles so huge they made me go WTF ! out loud.

Thief 2 was also very interesting for me, but I can not say much since I only played an hour of it at a friends house.

So Escapees, How about you, Which Old PC games do you hold a special place for within your heart ? (No Portal Jokes Please)

Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 and 2. I'm pretty sure I've played those games more than any other.

The Neverhood.
Seriously, it's awesome. It's also the only good old PC game I remember playing.

Is Painkiller that old? Or am I too old?

Anyway I'd say Duke Nukem 3D. I had loads of fun playing that at my friend George's house back in the day.

So...I really like the old C&C games before the franchise went to shit under EA. I still enjoy a nice round of Red Alert 2 or Tiberian Sun every now and then

Thief 1 & 2

System Shock 2 (It's like Bioshock but better, and Bioshock is already awesome)

Deus Ex

Planescape Torment

Crusader: No Remorse

No One Lives Forever (the sequel is also excellent but I have difficulty thinking of it as "old")

For me it's age of empires and giants: citizen kabuto. Those games were the bees knees and quite possibly the cats pajamas.

My favorite was the pearl harbor mission on RA2. Nothing like locking down the main island and unleashing all sorts of hell on the enemy!!!

Power Pete! I have to get that someday soon, so I can be confronted with how bad my taste was as a child.

Oh yeah...
RA2 was one of my first PC games, and I was still pretty new to the whole RTS thing. My approach was just to build up my defenses, and to use a bunch of aircraft to destroy the soviet con yard or the nuke silo before they could wipe me out. Man, I must have tried that mission a dozen times before I finally beat it.

Hell yes. I don't really know what it was but it's still unlike any other game I've ever played.

SWAT 3. (SWAT 4 improved on it in certain specific and vital ways, but 3 still... I dunno, feels more right.)

NOLF 2.

Red Alert 2, Civ 2, KOTOR, Republic Commando.

Old PC games I still love, eh?

Well, for one, ScummVM has made my life glorious ever since I discovered it and have been able to play all of my LucasArts Adventure Games again. The Dig, Full Throttle, and the first 3 Monkey Island games...

I'm currently working on tweaking DosBox so that I can replay Wing Commander 3 and 4, my Multi-write DVD drive can read "too fast", apparently.

Once I get that to work, maybe I can actually play my copy of Wing Commander Prophecy that I've had for 10 years or so.

I still love Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2, in all it's polygon-model glory. LucasArts did an excellent job rendering the scale of the levels; there's nothing like 3D jumping puzzles on the scaffolding underneath a decrepit bridge on your dead father's farm compound while giant flying insects try to knock you down into a precipice where you literally can't see the bottom.

Descent: Freespace is by far the best goddamn first-person space flight simulator I have ever played.

Civilization 2
Worms Armageddeon
Need for Speed 2

And I'm not sure they technically count, but I've spent countless hours playing minesweeper and freecell to procrastinate.
