Total Annihilation. RTS with robots! When you were 10, there was no better thing in the universe!
YES! First game (or demo, if we go into technicalities) I ever played on PC, I believe it was 1996/97. I bought the full game as soon as it came out.

Great to see a fellow lover of the game. I'm actually about to play it over LAN with my little brother :D

OT: I have many games I look on with nostalgia:

Total Annihilation
Quake
Shogun: Total War
UT99
Operation Flashpoint
Dungeon Siege
Homeworld
Max Payne
C&C95
C&C RA95
Rollercoaster Tycoon
Civ 2
Call to Power 2
Alpha Centauri
Starcraft
Caesar 3
Black & White
Dungeon Keeper 1 and 2
Freelancer

Yes I'm glad someone mentioned this. Greatest RTS game of all time. I want to get TA Spring but it's PC only, I'm Mac. It's 2011 can't we make everything compatible for both or are we gona have a Coke / Pepsi situation forever.

X-com. Ok, so the game is as old as I am, but i love it. Its like total war in reverse (realtime overmap with turn based battles)

Eh, Painkiller was 2004, I don't call that really old.
Of course Half Life is awesome, so is Deus Ex.
I love XCOM most of all though, that game was damned hardcore.
Seriously? Only one other person mentions X-com? You can pick it up on steam for next to nothing: try it out!

The Halo, Counter-Strike, Diablo and Fallout series are the four that I have had the most nostalgia with when playing. All because they were some of the first games I have played.

Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 and 2. I'm pretty sure I've played those games more than any other.
Same here.

The third one was pretty bland compared to them. On top of the high system requirements it just lacked the same charm for some reason.

I still have a copy of it! That game is awesome, and I regret not remembering it.

Dungon Seige the main theme is AWESOME.

And starcraft non expansion with the spawn thing on the disk
(spawn was a multi-player non-host no-disk version of starcraft that came with the disk"

and Riven... just epic
