So the other day I had a hankering to play the game "The Movies" again but I couldn't find one of my discs so I decided I'd forego the "pleasant" experience of digging through my closet for one disc and just buy it digitally...

Steam? Nope.
GoG? Not a chance
...Origin? Nadda

This game isn't available for digital download!

I went looking around and apparently some other titles from Lionhead aren't available either, like Black & White and it's sequel Black & White 2

This got me wondering:

What other PC Games aren't currently available digitally? Is there any explanation for this?

The Hobbit
I didn't even know that game had a PC release, I remember playing it on PS2. I have a feeling the dissolution of Sierra Entertainment and it's parent company Vivendi probably has a lot to do with it not being available anywhere, though with the Hobbit films out what better time to resurface?

American McGee's Alice. Not on Steam, GOG or anything I've seen. Supposedly, it was included on disc for one of the console versions of madness returns, but the PC apparently got shafted in that deal.

Also, Homeworld: Cataclysm. When I saw HW and HW2 were gonna get HD rereleases, of course I was happy. However, I never did get to play Catacylsm and I've heard it's awesome.

I don't even need an HD release, but a digital release would be nice.

The Neverhood, one of the greats of the point-and-click adventure game genre, made entirely out of Claymation, and with one of the trippiest soundtracks ever is not available anywhere. Just listen to it here and then tell me you don't want to play this game.

Actually it was a code to download the original from their respective online stores.

I... really don't have anything else to add.

Stubbs The Zombie: Rebel Without a Pulse. A game that was quite popular, or at least going by the internet, has yet to receive a digital release. The company that does it would probably make some wicked sales.

Well, not quite true, I did find it once! I downloaded it and then my hard drive broke. Probably unrelated, but maybe not.

Silent Hill 2, 3, and 4. They're really mainstream and well-known titles. I'm surprised that they're still only found in a disc form.

Old Blizzard games. They still sell the original full expansion boxes that you need to dick around with to work on the newer operating systems. Some people say they have no problem, but some still do and I find that ridiculous. Wish they would just pop up on Gog already.

I don't understand how Halo 1 and 2 aren't on Steam right now. Pretty much guaranteed to turn a decent profit for the little effort required (Halo 1 at least works fine with Windows 7).

Also Oni. Oddly enough, another Bungie game.

In response to the OP, I thought I remembered seeing The Movies available on GamersGate. I checked, but it looks like only the Mac version is available, for some reason:

Wizards & Warriors. It's one of the classic RPGs in the vein of Wizardry and Might & Magic, so I'm quite surprised it isn't, at the very least, on GOG. Shame because, after playing Wizardry 8, I'd very much like to give it a shot again. I once had it from a bargain bin when I was much younger - far too young to understand how it works. But I'd like to play it now with a more experienced head.

You can buy some old games like Starcraft and Diablo 2 on the Battle.net store, but older games like Warcraft 2 and Diablo are unavailable.

Huh. And someone told me it wasn't on Battlenet. Maybe they just meant the older games. Thanks for sharing

Though how does it work on Battlenet? Is it like Steam or like Gog? And does Battlenet have any other forms of DRM?

No One Lives Forever and the sequel are both quirky 1960s spy games where you play as a female thief turned spy. It's such a shame that it is not available digitally.

Drakan: Order of the Flame is an interesting 3rd person adventure game exclusive to the PC. You go around on foot or ride your dragon as you explore the landscape or go into dungeons.

Dune series none of these games are available digitally. Bring out Dune, Dune II, Dune 2000 and Emperor: Battle for Dune on digital download!

Star Wars Episode I: Pod Racer is the only good thing to come out of the Star Wars prequels and is still not available.

Terminator games, there were loads of old DOS Terminator games that are now lost in time and not sold anywhere.

Battlezone (1998) and Battlezone II: Combat Commander are fantastic real time RTS/FPS hybrid games, but currently not available digitally.

Mechwarrior all the old classic games that haven't been released digitally.

Die Hard games there was a Die Hard Trilogy of on rail shooters and some decent FPS.

Star Trek games there are loads of classic Star Trek games that are not available such as Star Trek: 25th Anniversary.

It's more similar to GOG, but instead of downloading a game, you download a downloader that downloads that specific game. The games don't appear to have any DRM other than requiring the CD-key, which is an improvement since these games originally required you to have the game's CD in the drive as well.

You can check it out for yourself by registering a game you already own by using its CD-key. Starcraft, Diablo 2, and Warcraft 3 would work, and maybe some others I forgot about.

Cheers mate, it's definitely an improvement.

I'd also like to mention Metal Fatigue as another I wish was digital, cause my CD is dead. A special RTS game where you build giant robots that can plow through many vehicles. Oh, and Fury 3.

Mine will have to be the original Typing Of the Dead I know there is Over Kill but that seems to be missing something that the original had.
