This is just a simple question.

What is a good overall GFX card for a laptop to play recent games and games going to be released(Diablo 3).

I have a Compaq v6000. Not sure what kind of GFX card is in it as when I asked my Uncle(bought it for me for high school graduation) he just said "it doesn't matter". It does run emulators fine(PS) It is very fast though and all I need is a GFX card.

I can't shell out a TON for one as I am in college and have very little money.

Suggestions? Thanks.

Nvidia 8800GT and 9600GT will run you $100-$150 usually, and are both excellent choices.
ATI's 4850 out preforms either of these, but also costs a bit more.

Edit: before you buy, make absolutely sure that your motherboard supports PCI-e, and that you have at least a 400W Power Supply.

I would also recommend you a Radeon HD 4850, lots of power for cheap price.

Also, I'm not sure if your laptop could have it's original GFX Card changed, as far as I know only some of them let you do so.

you can't replace graphics cards on most laptops, they're usually soldered to the motherboard and therefore can't be removed.

The bottom part is what I was worried about, anyway to figure that out?

Also everyone thanks for your suggestions.

As far as I know, you can't replace your graphics card on your laptop, only on a desktop. You would either need to buy an entirely new laptop or pick up a desktop.

Only information I could find on what video card you might have built-in:
"either NVIDIA GeForce Go 7150M or Intel X3100 dependable on chip set"

The bad news is you're not going to be upgrading the video card, short of buying a different laptop.
