PC gaming is just too much hassle but there is hope.

Well while I agree it can be I don't think you made the point well with any good examples. All I got from the post was hopefully there will be less shitty console to PC ports next gen due to architecture changes. Although, that is unlikely to solve the actual problems with those ports such as bad uis.

Whether it's "too much of a hassle" is dependent on the kind of person, but yeah, there are frustrating elements to PC gaming that aren't present for console gaming. There are also additional conveniences that come with having greater control over your system too though.

In general I've had very few problems with my PC (4 in the 2 years I've had this setup and one of them wasn't related to a game). To be honest the biggest issues I've experienced with bugs and such have been cross platforms. The amount of fuckups some games are shipped with is absolutely horrendous. Lousy ports aren't the only issue - the three games I mentioned having issues with - they were all exclusive to PC.

From what I've seen, the PC "master race" is just a bunch of fucking morons in a circle-jerk who think they're better because they play on PC.
I... Hmmmm

That's a bit harsh, don't you think?

Some of us only circle-jerk on weekends.

Just wondering what it is that makes you think the next generation will be better? Don't get me wrong, if it proves to be the case that's fantastic - I just don't recall seeing or reading anywhere why it would be the case.

On the rest of the issue, I'm old enough to remember the bad old days of PC gaming where you had to negotiate boot disks and sound card drivers and whatnot, and there wasn't Google or forums to turn to for help if you got stuck. The positives have always outweighed the negatives over the years for me though, so I've never thought it was "too much hassle". I can certainly see how others might see it that way though.

Both next gen consoles will be running x86 architecture, same as PC.

Yeah OP, baring perhaps Dark Souls Rockstar products tend to be the shitiest PC ports out there.

Some people here are getting the wrong impression that i hate PC gaming while i in fact love PC gaming. I love to tweak various settings, playing with cheats and mods, buying cheap games, etc but i want the developers to do away with "unnecessary DRM" that only gets in the way of game installation and play.
Also someone said why do i expect better ports going forward in the new generation its because since all the consoles are based on same architecture as that of PC, game development can happen on PC and then be down ported to consoles instead of upscaling console games to the PC. Also PC will continue to be my system of choice this upcoming generation (no ps4 or xb1).The only console i have owned are PS2 which is still play.
Also someone said that its useless to expect good service from the developers of shitty PC ports especially R* this really worries me if GTA V will be yet another poor port?

Game development allways happened on PCs. The games were allways "ported down" to consoles. This "architecture is same, so porting will be easier" - doesn't really matter. I think, we will be graced with terrible ports still, due to developers unable to design comfortable, mappable controls on keyboards as well as joypads and GUIs with a mouse in mind. Because they're lazy, uninterested, don't know how and/or don't have the time and money. Perhaps bugs will be a little less of a problem (don't get your hopes up) but terrible ports are here to stay.

Well, Rockstars last pc port was Max Payne 3 and that was actually a better PC port than most, but GTA IV's port was godawful and ran crap on all but a few systems so I'm thinking it'll be at least not bad.

30fps limit is ALWAYS modded out.
You'd get screwed up animations with higher FPS in L.A Noire because of the way the facial motion cap is done specifically to that FPS, adding more frames would just be junk that isn't there, and apparently having more FPS just makes the game run faster which comes with it's own problems.

It might be worth mentioning your os, as it helps a lot (especially with installing gfwl and rockstar social club).

It is not PCs fault if developers ignored the platform to port properly to it.
Also PC gaming is just as much of a "hassle" as any console. If you got proper gear your PC can serve you as anything, if you got the knowledge to use that gear it will serve you better

Also... GPUs do not like it when games set FPS limits and such to them, they like to go full out. So when there is a port with FPS limit due to console, most of GPUs do not like it.

But one thing I love about PC gaming is the fact that if something goes wrong client side, you can bet your right bollock that there is a fix for it in the depths of internet and gaming forums. There always is, even in hours after release/patch/update.

Also - there hasn't been a game I couldn't have gotten to work on PC.

I love playing on PC, but there are a few much more noticeable hoops to jump through, so it's still not my main platform yet.

I play on PC and console but mostly on console I just find it easier still and I get much less problems on console than on PC but then again I can usually sort them out now on PC unlike say 5 years ago.

Neither is thabestest each have their advantages and disadvantages.

Maybe it is if you buy your computer from Best buy. Mine is custom made for gaming, and I have WAY less issues then I used when I was console exclusive. This taboo about pc gaming having alot of hassle does not exist.

Why don't we talk about the hassle of console gaming instead where you are at the complete mercy of the company in question, so if they make their console out of garbage like what microsoft did with the 360 you are left completely screwed when it stops working? Does that not exist?

Yea, but I do get some kind of satisfaction from making something run correctly.

The last PC game problems I had was my AC games, but that was Ubisoft being shit in their DRM, not my PC. Steam is usually pretty good about getting things to run without hassle. Just, eh, hang in there, terrible (control wise) can usually be solved with a 360 controller plugged in.

It depends what your used to. I was and still pretty much am mostly a console gamer still, I bought fallout trilogy off the shelf installed it and opened it up and it just didn't work. The graphics were all buggy and made the game unplayable.

Now not that it wasn't a pretty easy google fix but that's an jarring negative when it comes to pc gaming. Don't expect the game you bought to work right without going through manual fixes or if it's been out a while a good digital retailer has those fixes already. It's something that shouldn't be that way when people can get the same experience offered without the hassle on an console.
