I seem to be in a game drought at the moment, and I just want something that can last me till around Christmas (with very few games seeming to last less than a few days now it seems), so I was thinking of picking something up sometime soon. I'm willing to play anything either it be RPG,FPS, or RTS...

What I'm thinking is getting the Fallout Trilogy Pack(contains Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics)

And I have also played Mass Effect, Witcher, Fallout 3, Warcraft 3, and Oblivion. If that helps...oh also, the Orange Box games.

I would recommend the KOTOR games, as well as Bioshock for the RPGs (well, Bioshock is an FPS with RPG elements, so I just lumped it in there). As an LOTR fanboy, I'd also suggest the Battle for Middle-Earth games for RTS.

Um...if you're a loot whore, then I suggest Torchlight.
There are also some pretty good deals on Steam right now. Getting some of those games could tide you over.

You might find a reasonably cheap starcraft battlechest. Totally worth it.

Dragon Age: Origins, unless it's a Christmas present.

Jade Empire, erm, just look through Steams BioWare section, if you don't have it, might as well try it.

Dragon Age Origins for the crazy awesome RPG from bioware. If you want a more FPS oriented game definitely go with Borderlands. Lots of loot and hours of fun to be had!

What exactly is Torchlight? I haven't heard of it at all, but I think I might add Borderlands onto the might buy list.

I see you're getting lots of Dragon Age recommendations. Allow me to throw my two cents into that pile as well. Oh, if you're feeling a bit adventurous, I'd pick up Assassin's Creed 2. It's not out yet, but if they fixed some of the quibbles with the first one, it'll be an awesome game. And if you want to laugh your ass off, the new Sam and Max series is where you should point your hard drive. Hope you find some good ones!

I've been playing the PS3 version of Dragon Age. It's good pick it up if you are in the mood for an RPG.

Torchlight is pretty much Diablo 2 in gameplay. But way better graphics and no multiplayer.

It is however a ton of fun for everyone I know that has played it.

If you really want to waste time however, you should get into some MMORPG.

A sad situation indeed. :(

If you like FPS, the obvious choices considering the current climate would be Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2. They may be too popular for their own good, but you'll be hard-pressed to find more compelling and intense FPS campaigns than those. I'm pretty sure that the price of the first one has substantially dropped in price, so I would go check that out.

Also, do you have any gamer friends with similar genre interests? Are you willing to put up with a few big connectivity issues in order to enjoy an awesome multiplayer experience? If so, definitely try out Borderlands with a friend or two.

The Fallout pack's the best bet there. I'd say it well out does most of the things on your list. Well the RPGs at least (I have a soft spot for Portal^^).

If you'll willing to try some retro gaming Steam's got all of the X-Com games for like $15. If you've never played the first 2 were amazing and no gamer should have missed them.

Dawn of War 2 had its high points as well, but it wasn't quite the traditional RTS that Dawn of War was. Though if you haven't played any of them I'd suggest Dawn of War: Dark Crusade. It was a great game and added a strange "Risk" style to the campaign mode, plus it had a ton of races and they all played different. The one that came after it Soulstorm, wasn't as good IMO. The new races didn't add that much and it just felt like more of the same but without the shine that made Dark Crusade so fun.

Surprised no-one mentioned Borderlands, or Demon's Souls.

Company of Heroes, possibly the best RTS I have ever played. Get Tales of Valor, that will give you all 4 factions for MP

Borderlands is fantastic, it is hard not to get addicted to it. The campaign isnt all that long, but I find myself playing through it several more times because the action and character improvement is great, and the coop is awesome.
