Get Steam (it's free).

Then buy the Valve Complete Pack

In itself it's quite expensive, but it's a huge discount on buying all the games separately.
Then you're covered for shooters for, well the rest of time to be honest.

I've got Oblivion and Fallout for my PS, would it be worth it just for mods?

Get Fallout 3/Dragon Age Origins and mod the living crap out of them.

Then get(or borrow) a copy of Crysis to show off your new computer.

Of the games I've played recently, try Cryostasis. Russian game full of bugs, but very creepy and relatively original, and probably cheap as well.
Try Trine, a lovely little game available on Steam, and get The Witcher too.
Also, I second Fallout 3 and Oblivion.

STALKER. You owe it to your life to play STALKER. It's like 5 pounds now and a fucking excellent game. I have been playing it since christmas non stop.... So yeah, get that.
I second this, I loved running around in the pitch black with bloodsuckers trying to eat me :D

I would recommend bioware's stuff too - Mass Effect 1 & 2 , Dragon Age etc.

don't forget the total war series.
TOTAL WAR, that will keep you going for a very very long time. Medieval 2, Rome, Empire.

Erm Civ 3 is probably one of my favorite games, I'm still playing it on and off though it came out years ago.

Yes it extends the gameplay for about another 300 hours with updated textures and graphics but I bought fallout and oblivion for my ps3 then pirated two pc copies..... your choice.

honestly i dont think its worth it, as i asked that same question to myself a long time ago, the mods are fun sure, but def. not worth playing the games again let alone bbuying them

OT: i'd say get mass effect 1 and 2 and just about any other bioware game on the pc, like Knights of the old republic, its probably like 9 bucks right now on steam and MANN that game has an amazing story and character set

I would recommend you go buy the first one and it's expansions (maybe pass on Soulstorm) instead.
I second that, DoW2 was a disgrace.
