...and if you are running the same software as a PC...
Well that's the problem.
I have a friend who works in Television. He's an editor for a TV show, and the programs he uses for video editing are industry standard, and they are Mac
only. Yeah, there are some cross-overs, bu everything he uses (Again: Industry standard) is Mac only, so if she's getting into real, industry-style editing and production, then she needs a Mac.
I know people rip on Macs, and I'm not a Mac user myself, but the fact is that Macs are really robust machines. The hardware is
excellent quality, which is why the price is so high. They aren't fail proof, that's for sure, and the price makes most consumers want to double-check that $500 Acer laptop, but the Mac hardware will, barring some drop or uncommon hardware failure, last much longer then that Acer. Way longer, since Acer is crap.
The OS is
way low drag, especially compared to Windows, and also very slick.
Macs aren't a gamer's machine (Though with Steam coming to OSX, I don't know how long that will last), but they are very good computers. And if your sister is serious about video editing, and wants to use industry software: She needs a Mac.
