There's a few you can do to get Grand Theft Auto IV running properly. The first you can do is not pirate the damn game and actually buy it from the store, making sure not to use a crack. I wouldn't be surprised if this fixed a huge number of problems. The second you can do is make sure all your drivers and your operating system software are up to date and correctly installed. The third is you can wait a bit for a patch. Maybe, you know, play another game for a week or two. You may have noticed that games can be installed - they do not "run out" if left inactive.

GTA has been intended for consoles for the last few games imo, they are trying to offer everyone the chance to play it though.

The problem with GTA4 is it demands alot. I have a rig that runs Fallout 3 and FarCry 2 on high, but will run GTA4 on low because it needs .5 more gigs of RAM. It could be worse. It can't even run BiA: Hell's Highway.

Much agreed. I couldn't tell you how worth that 3 hrs of research was to get Fallout 1 & 2 working on my crap laptop.

I play games on my consoles because its easier, and cheaper - and mod / play RTS's on my PC. whats interesting is the idiots who posted originally - stereotyping all console players to be racist...its a games system for crying out loud, playing one doesn't turn people in racist's, they've always been like that.

Really, I've always been some kind of PC fanboy. Deep RPGs, deep strategy titles,
deep deep deep, bla bla bla

But the only thing deep I can find about these games today is the installation process.

Basically its just GTA 4 that is the problem. Other PC games are fine and face it, GTA 4 is not the best game around anyway.

Pretty much this. GATIV is poorly optimised really, and needs at least a 2.66 quad core, 3 gigs of ram and a 1gb 8800GT or above to run it around 30fps.
