Well, the PC port of Ground Zeroes was really good, as far as I know. It runs like a charm on my machine in full HD with all other options on max. But it's a really, really small area to deal with in comparison.

But the elephant in the room for me is that it's Konami. From what I've heard lately, it is now really difficult for me to even consider giving this company any money. I'd like to advise any developer to avoid this company at all costs. If these allegations are true, this is the fourth company I desperately whish to go bankrupt.

What is once hyped cannot be unhyped. It's less than a month away. It's less than a month away. It's.Less.Than.A.Month.Away.

The hype is real.

The previous release date was just two weeks after console release. It's not like they could do a lot in that time period. I think the game was finished before schedule and they had more time to work on the PC version. They are delaying MGO to 2016 so there's that. Maybe that was the compromise. Release SP alongside the consoles and port MGO much later. If you read their statement on Steam it seems like they've listened to the feedback about separating graphics options. They seem to know what they're doing.

Why would you wish them to go bankrupt? This isn't an issue that can't be fixed with a new management.

Also, you need to get over yourself. Western consumerism is largely based on blood and sweat of children and poorest fuckin' people working in terrible conditions. People with almost no rights. And you're here debating with yourself the ethics of buying a video game because the current KONAMI management is run by idiots.
But did you ever pause to consider the possibility that one of the devices you own, or at least part of one was made by some poor soul that committed suicide a day after they've assembled it because they couldn't take it anymore? It's entirely possible. But that's out of sight and out of mind, I guess.

Just because nobody told you about it doesn't mean that you shouldn't keep in mind the possibility that ANYTHING you buy these days could have been made in a sweatshop by an 8 year old that will never have a childhood like you or me. That's the reality of the terrible world we live in. So what's the point in depriving yourself of simple pleasure like a video game? Knowing about KONAMI workforce situation doesn't really change anything. It just makes you a selfish hypocrite if you decide to ignore everything else just so you could make yourself feel better and morally superior.

Japan is not one of those countries like China and Thailand. If their workers can't fight for better working conditions that's on them. They live in a civilized country with actual labor rights. They could do something about it. And they will once they've had enough. Sooner or later.

I've got faith in the port being perfectly fine (if not parity with PS4 at 1080p)...but eh.

My primary issue is the actual content of the game. I didn't much care for this direction started with Peace Walker, and I didn't enjoy what little there was of Ground Zeroes. Plus Keifer Sunderland. I just don't feel like it'll be something in the same vein as 1-4, which connects to my next problem.

I have all the originals from their original systems (as well as the HD collection on PS3). Even if the game is good and I want it, this is one of those instances where I'd really like to have the physical box, and I'm certainly not getting a PS4 just to have it or playing the PS3 version.

Basically, I'll see how this plays out. If its the game I'm thinking it is, I'll get it in a Steam sale one day and have my boxes that have Kojima-san's name and David Hayter's voice proudly featured.

Where is Kojima? We demand proof of life!!
Considering the info coming out of Konami these days, the best we'd probably get is a finger.
Jim Fucking Sterling Son puts it best: "FucKonami"

I am sure Kojima is fine. He will probably popout of the woodwork sooner or later with a Kick Starter for a Metal Gear look alike or something soon like most of the Famous Devs that have broke free from their AAA servitude.

Wait? What? A AAA publisher moved up a PC release date? Surely he meant delay.

In the end, it makes no difference to me. I'm not a big fan of MGS and I'm inclined to punish Konami for their dickishness anyway. I'll not be purchasing. It's not like they're going to shut down the developer if it doesn't sell well.

That's a good mentality to have, but you are kind of looking at wrong points of comparison. Warner Bros' fuck up shouldn't be the thing that makes you more wary to a product of an entirely different company. Patterns should be searched within one single series/developers/publishers(etc) output.

Anyone else concerned about this? On face value they spin it nicely but usually moving up release dates means something is wrong.

I don't trust Konami, and considering the recent events of Arkham Knight, I would trust a release that was moved up to match consoles even less.
I can't think of a single game that had development "moved up" and didn't have problems. In fact, I can't really think of a big AAA game that was moved up at all. I don't foresee good things happening with this.

EDIT:

Well, in that case, I retract my previous statement. I really should do the research first - I assumed it would've been MONTHS before the PC release. You're right Adam - A couple of weeks isn't really time to change much aside from further play-testing and eliminating (hopefully trivial) bugs.

PC gamers rejoice: Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain will release on PC the same day as on console.
Ah yes, the celebration of Konami doing the bare minimum standard. Games releasing on that day is normal. PC games releasing later is something a company needs to be penalized for.
