A better question, in my opinion, would be "Why the fuck do boring people always whine about world peace?"

I seriously don't understand how this became a thing. Or why anyone would desire it. World Peace sounds really lame and boring. Oh good an end to ambition, competition, and drive. And an end to violence and glory and fun and fear and sadness and exultation and everything that makes life the amazing roller coaster ride that it is.

No thanks. A world of hippies dancing around and hugging and working together... It's like that traditional cliche view of Heaven, all harps and hymns and clouds and brotherly love for eternity, who the hell would actually want that?

Pretty much when everyone fully understand each other (know how that stranger is feeling and able to relate to).

Giant-cosmic-tentacle monster! We must fight this common foe together. Peace through millions of lives is still peace right? Right? Or is it a lie, no better than war? Something you have to consider before providing such a foe.

Well Jon Osterman didn't seem to mind :p. I doubt we'll get such a super-hero however...

If Mickey Rourke wasn't a fun-loving badass then yes, it is ironic in the case of the video :p.

err, countries would have to dissolve. If mankind faced its own emminent destruction and was forced to band together to survive. I mean, its about the only aspect of human nature that kinda gives me hope.

common enemy would work too. Mankind has shown that it is willing to let go of past events, idealogy, morals, traditions, etc if its survival is on the line. Not exactly a proud quality, but you play the hand that is dealt to you.

Course, then we would have to find new life forms to fight against, otherwise we will start fighting each other again.

The Emperor must unite us all under a common banner--to teach us the glory of mankind.
He will tell us we're blessed, holy, and powerful, instead of weak, sinful, and shameful as all other religions preach.
He can show us the wonders of mankind's unity, of the powers of our brother. He can teach of strength and honor in humanity, instead of loathing shame.
Under His light, He can show us the sky, and all the millions of stars, and tell us our destiny--to walk those distant lights, and tame them.
We shall have no fear, as the Emperor protects.

We are Humanity; We have purpose.
We are brothers--all of us.
Forget our divisions, for there is a greater struggle out there, against a universe that sees our strength, and, in its fear, seeks to destroy us.
For this, the Emperor unites us, and shows us our future.
The conquer and rule, not for our own sake, but for mankind as a whole.

That is the Emperor's dream, and it is best we remember, my brethren.
For the unity of mankind can accomplish amazing things, and to unite in the great mission that lies before us is our destiny.

The only way I could see it as a possibility is through the perspective of microscoping evolution bringing us to a point where we can grow past our more banal instincts. In our current state, however, no way.

Obligatory hugging sessions presided over by men with sticks, hug out the anger.... or get hit by a stick. Maybe not my best suggestion in hindsight
I dunno, I personally fully endorse this plan...
Then we are in agreement. Meet me at the U.N HQ in an hour. I'll brig the sticks, you bring the hugs. Give me an hour and we'll see if we can't make North and South Korea 'sort our their differences' (laughs evilly)
Were we successful? I can't tell if the dude I hit with a stick was Kim Jong Un or not.

I don't think the only way to have peace on earth would be to completely unify everyone. Well, I think there would be a bit of tension when people are too different, but within a reasonable of difference, I think that from a theoretical stand point, it is a possible concept provided that everyone possesses a certain amount of knowledge and understanding of one another. This, however, would be nearly impossible to realistically accomplish I do not see this happening. EVER.
