The Internet has been the same for years.
Ask around about CoD and you'll hear what a horrible pathetic game that is. And then 90% of the people who complain would go and buy it.
Ask around about what people think about online DRM and you'll hear how bad it is. And then most of these people will go buy Diablo III and Sim City.
I'm pretty sure the majority of the people who buy Call of Duty, SimCity or Diablo 3 are not the same people who ***** about them on the Internet because people who stay updated on DRM-schemes and news about games are the minority of people who play games but it's probably a fair amount of people who complain for the sake of complaining and then pre-order the CE of the game they were bitching about to strangers on the Internet.

When Microsft basically says.

"Don't have connection? Too bad. Go play the 360"

.. Yeah, I think people have every to complain about for the months to come all the time. That's all.

someone made a good point in another thread

the casuals will buy the cheapest, since they have no brand loyalty or research.
the informed will avoid the xbone like the plague unless they are target demographic (young, american, frat boy)

so the only people buying it are the fratboy cod fans and the MS fanboys.

thats totally going to make 10 million sales worldwide...

or should i say in the 22 countries MS will let you use it in

I really don't get why everyone assumes people will buying the xbone for COD.

I mean, it's not an exclusive or anything.

Now for the XBONE:
1-Ryse
2-Quantum Break
3-D4
4-Sunset Overdrive
5-Crimson Dragon
6-Project Spark
7-Dead Rising 3
8-Forza Motorsport 5
9-Halo
10-Killer Instinct
11-Untitled Black Studios Game
12-Fantasia: Music Evolved
13-Kinect Sports Rivals
Here, lemme help you with that.

1: Quick time event combat blows.
2: Over a year away
3: No gameplay shown, title far away
4. No gameplay, far away from being completed
5: Over a year away, also needs sound? lol
6. This might be interesting.
7: Being turned into Call of Duty, will probably be terrible as a result.
8: Racing games are basically all exactly the same. Forza 5 = GT6. I found the Forza series to be decent, but the cars drive better in Gran Turismo.
9: Series has been run into the ground. Also, another title thats a LONG way off.
10: Generic Fighting game with characters we remember. Killer Instinct was never that deep of a fighter to begin with.
11: You can't include a game that doesn't even have a title.
12: Yay...?
13: Double yay??

Most of these are over a year away from release, they'll show up at E3 2014.

You can't really impress with a long list of games that won't be available when the console drops for $500.

*Looks at the exclusive PS4 titles...*

*Looks at the exclusive X1 titles...*

....

WHO THE HECK IN THEIR RIGHT MIND THINKS THE X1 EXCLUSIVES ARE BETTER THAN THE PS4 ONES?!

Besides Crimson Dragon, they're all forgettable.

I don't think you guys are grasping WHY there is so much hate toward to Xbox One. Gaming websites like Gamespot and GamesRadar are openly being completely against the console, because it means much more than just supporting Sony.

If the Xbox One is successful, that shows the rest of the gaming industry that it is totally okay to destroy used games, borrowing and renting, and freedom to game in general. It is their duty as gaming writers to stop that from happening. It's not just about supporting a console anymore.

THANK YOU! I am SO glad to know I am not the only one who noticed that! The willful ignorance is absolutely stunning to me. I know that Americans by and large are perceived as stupid by most of the world and this certainly has done nothing to improve that image, much to my chagrin. I simply cannot believe that Sony is getting a free pass while the gamer community crucifies Microsoft. Granted the system has problems, but enough is enough.

You guys seem to think that what I said was:
"The line-up is better, therefore its the best console choise".

No, that is not what I said. What I said was:
"***** all you want but at least ***** about valid points, dont dismiss things that are not bad just because its assossiated with the console."
That logic is a bit ridiculous. The main problems critics are having are the core features of the Xbone. I don't give a fuck how wonderful some of the other items on the console may be, if I find the console itself to be total bollocks, then no amount of third party bells and whistles is going to matter to me. What you are asking is just as absurd as if I told someone it doesn't matter if the new funky cool sports car I'm selling bursts into flames and kills the driver once it reaches 80 miles per hour, due to the fact it has an adorable in dash Pikachu cup holder.

That list is nowhere near complete. Where is Transistor? Or Don't Starve? or Contrast? or Oddworld? You are just trying to bias the conversation by forgetting a whole lot of indie games coming exclusively to PS4 (on consoles)

The reason they talked only about XBONE games was that they dropped all the bombs about DRM, used games, only-online hardware, cross media, all-seeing eye, etc. in a conference a month ago and didn't revisit the subject (a conference in which they barely talked about games). On top of that, they hardly talked about the 360. Sony, on the other hand, not only covered the PS4, but the PS3, the Vita, their DRM policies and their cross media plans.

On topic, I think people are not bitching ENOUGH. The hubris on Microsoft part (with quotes like "deal with it" or "if you don't have constant Internet, go buy a 360") is something that should not go unnoticed or diminished just because people want to play another Halo. I know gamers can be a fickle and uncompromising crowd... things like boycotts or complains get ignored when peer pressure makes them buy the next Call of Duty; but I think this crosses a line.

If the XBONE oversales the PS4, if they win the next console generation and the following one goes the way Microsoft set as the new status quo because people were sheep and just wanted more Halo, I will be sorely disappointed. Before the Sony's conference, I was seriously considering quitting console gaming. After that, I will wait and see. But I can assure you now that I will consider buying a XBox One unless Microsoft changes its speech or I get to pirate every single game in it.

So the big breaking point is that they called a lackluster lineup with more of the same a lackluster lineup with more of the same?

I want to sympathise, but this seems a weird place to draw the line.

Look, I can't speak for Gamespot, but maybe the difference in reaction has to do with the fact that Sony had managed to actually look good and had positive things to report as such. Maybe Sony's lineup would have been lambasted if they had actually performed on Microsoft's level.

Maybe Microsoft raised expectations too high with the whole "Of COURSE we're not going to show games at our announcement, wqit for E3 where we will BLOW YOUR MINDS" and there's backlash.

Maybe Microsoft had stacked things so far against them that all Sony had to do was NOT say something phenomenally stupid to "triumph."

Look, I get it. People can take things too far. But honestly? Microsoft overshadowed their own releases. Conversely, Sony was expected to be similar to Microsoft, so when they dropped the fact that they're not going completely anti-consumer on us, it's kind of forgiveable if people didn't even notice the games. In fact, one of the more notable things about the Ps4 is that it will play most of the same games as the BONE without check-ins and creepy spycams.

You now have to pay for the multiplayer on the PS4 and everyone just went "lol, who cares, Microsoft sucks", thats not the reaction that people should have had but since its so cool to hate Microsoft no one gave a shit.
That's your big sony sin? it's 10 dollars cheaper and you get more then your money back in games. Not to mention they came out with a perfectly reasonable explanation for it. It's hardly anything comparable to the Microsoft stuff.
Are you saying Microsoft's "we want more money" justification for Gold wasn't a good one? >.>

The "converts" from 360 to PS4 simply don't care about PSN Plus being required for online play, we've been dealing with that for 7 years now.

So uh... the OP is saying we should not ***** about a product whose entire design premise is "give the consumers as few rights as possible, give the console developer/game publishers all the rights, pretend it's a console that can do everything except it's underpowered DRM-ridden forced-video-camera bullshit?"

You know what happens when we DON'T ***** about it? They turn around next gen and make one even worse. Xbone is already designed to put its cock in the ear of every buyer - next gen won't stop for anything less than the eye socket. If you're trying to weakly rationalize the bullshit anti-consumer design of this console, fucking quit it. Microsoft ISN'T on your side, and the next console won't magically be better if you stand for this shit. They'll only learn and improve if you tell them that shit is unacceptable.

The amount of backpedaling already present is a good sign Microsoft is scared. No doubt more will follow in the coming months, to try to close the massive gap between them and Sony. But no quarter can be given. They decided to fuck the consumer over with every aspect of their new machine - not to give us services or better games, but to make money and make publishers money. This wasn't a random thought that just popped into someone's head. This has been their plan for months, years even. They have to live with the consequences of that decision. If we make it clear that decision was made poorly, they will be more likely to stop jerking us around in the future. If you blindly agree with them, or try to rationalize away the cock in your ear, it'll only get worse from here.

Don't come crying to me next gen when the XBone 2.0 has bones for every orifice. The fault would only be yours for not putting your foot down here.

Isn't that exactly what happened when EA was the lesser evil compared to Activision? They made all these grand promises to treat gamers with respect in order to win them over from the Starcraft/Warcraft/Call of Duty triumvirate?

Microsoft and Sony are both serving us shit sandwiches. The difference is that Microsoft is serving us big runny donkey turds on storebrand white bread, while Sony is using fresh artisanal ciabatta rolls, heirloom tomato, fresh lettuce, applewood bacon, chipotle mayo, and just a thin layer of shit.

At the end of the day, you're still eating a shit sandwich, but Sony at least put some care into it.
Dude DRM doesn't work, Anyone worth their ass will crack it in a month. That said the just deal with it attitude you present is unreal.
