Yeah, the distance thing is a bit of a problem... Also with you on the preference over wood, but as you said it does require extra equipment, whereas wooden weapons, well yeah not much required, and they're cheap to aquire/easy to make.
The reason I prefer steel simulators (i.e. blunt swords) is that they behave a lot more like swords than wooden simulators, unsurprisingly. Wood is alright if you want a cheap option, but it's far from ideal.
I've owned a variety of swords, and with wooden practise weapons it's all in the construction and where you put weights into them, they can be built to feel and perform much in the same way as an actual steel sword, but that can be tricky, it really depends on what variety of sword you're replicating, as adding weights can change the balance and feel accordingly in some of them.

I've used wood, modified shinais and synthetic wasters; even if the balance is right, nothing handles quite like steel. The issue is the way it clashes; wood and shinais bounce, plastics don't transfer momentum quite right etc. I mean, they're acceptable simulators, but if I've got steel I'm gonna use steel.

Yea... no, it's not. Look, girls aren't that different from guys. Either a girl is interested in you or she's not, there's no "magical" time period, during which you must make a move or be confined to the "friendzone" forever. I have no idea why the guys who believe in that shit have some bizarre need to blame the girls they're interested in, instead of realising that might be them and not the girl.

If you're talking about a friend who happens to be a girl, you're not in her "friendzone" either, you're just her friend. It's really that simple. The very idea of the "friendzone" is just misogynistic drivel made up by aforementioned keyboard warriors.

This gets me every damn time! No, we are not here solely to be your girlfriend, try respecting us as a person, rather than the potential object of your romantic interests.

The misogyny hanging around the internet in general is capable of putting me in a rabid posting rage these days.

I AM IMPOSING MY SUBCULTURE ON YOU BECAUSE IT IS CLEARLY SUPERIOR TO YOUR INTERESTS, PATHETIC HUMAN.

No, no it isn't. That's why it's a SUBculture.

I just sigh and think the person is an idiot and don't try to correct them anymore but people who seriously can't grasp that there might be an issue in their own group and other people should ignore that part and just listen to them. I honestly think some groups would be heard better if they were seen actively trying to stop their misguided members.

There IS a problem within feminist groups

There IS a problem within religious/Atheist groups

There IS a problem within vegan/Vegetarian groups

Another thing I've found funny in a sad kinda way though is this occurrence

Man kills people after playing heaps of games and he blames games for the killing... well the man is just sick in the head according to people so games aren't to blame

Man goes against EVERYTHING his religion states, he throws it all away and kills people claiming god told him to hate and murder innocent people... well we better try and take religion down because of all the damage it's causing...

That Dragonball Z is THE MOST POWERFUL FICTION EVER!

This really irritates me considering there are several comic, manga, book, etc. characters that could take the entire cast of DBZ single-handedly.

My grammar is terrible. I won't make excuses for it, however it annoys me to no end when I see words used incorrectly. They're, their and there are three that I see misused alot.

I pretty much hate everything anyone says, so yeah.

Also, I really fucking hate dubstep, so seeing it bring happiness to people makes me upset.

So lately I find myself spending inordinate amounts of time online correcting people on various things, usually things that are completely inconsequential. I can't help myself, I'm an addict.

So what gets your goat? Are there any topics that draw this response from you? What are they?

For me, my three big ones are;

- Evolution; I'm no biologist, but the basic facts aren't that hard. Still, I see people getting them wrong all the time.
- Physics; Now, I am a student of Physics, and there are so many misconceptions about Physics that sometimes I wonder how we've made it this far as a species.
- Swordplay; this one doesn't come up quite as often, but I've learnt(/am in the process of learning) various historical European sword fighting styles and the knowledge is less accessible than the other two. This one somehow gets me the worst (I've been known to write 1600 word responses on this topic), despite the fact that it matters the least.
Physics hmmm? I got a question. Why do we launch rockets with the spin of the Earth? They say its because they gain the extra 1000mph that the Earths spin gives off, but it doesn't make sense to me. The Rocket starts on the ground no matter which direction its going in it already has that speed. So wouldn't they still be going the same relative speed of the Earth regardless of the direction they launch from?

----------

Mine is science in general. I don't mind people getting it wrong as long as they let me fix it for them. I had a video game once tell me that the speed of light was 86,000 miles per second... yeah I don't play that game any more?

I don't mind most of that.

When people are needlessly rude, when they could have gotten their point across without calling someone a "fucking idiot" or something equally dickish.

Fricking annoying.
This sums up my dislike of engaging in forums most of the time, beyond reading- the absence of manners. It makes people look boorish to say the least, and it happens whether 'right' or 'wrong'. It really doesn't take much to be polite.

"Like my status/thumbs up if/I need a hug because I have insanely low self esteem so why don't I spam you with this shit until I feel better" posts/comments piss me off.

Especially when they declare something like "only 90's babies will understand this <3".
No. That is false. You're not a part of some elitist group for being born at a certain time. Hell, I was born in '95 and that stuff still pisses me off.

I really dislike how the the internet gives all of us the ability to know anything about anything, right at our fingertips. Yet people still go around stating bullshit as fact..
...To counter these idiots, I've spent a lot of time reading up on who invented what, and am now a bit of an encyclopaedia!
I'm quite similar to this. I think I'd know a lot of facts most people wouldn't, or would know incorrectly (especially about languages). One of my friends, however, loves hearing new rumours, then getting together with me and researching them.
Wow. That sounds really boring. I swear, it's not.

As for what "gets my goat",[footnote]Interesting phrase. Never heard it before.[/footnote] horrible spelling and grammar (unless you have a disability or the language you're using isn't your native), though I can accept it if the person at least tries. With the popularity of the Internet though, I've just learned to ignore it on non-serious issues, like Facebook and YouTube. If you're debating or promoting discussion, however, I won't listen to your arguments unless you at least try spelling properly (again, disabilities and non-native speakers excepted).

Others trying too hard to change the view of others they mostly likely won't meet out of the internet. If some one isn't agreeing with your point, it's not your duty to make them.

I'm not religious, but when you get some dumb fuck trying to tell a religious person about evolution it pisses me off, or when people start saying "how can they believe in such things"... The same way you believe in science or what ever. Let it go.

I'm not a fan of religion, but I try to respect some ones beliefs. Provided they're not trying to shove them down my throat.

People whining about a 10/10 score for something. It doesn't represent the game being perfect, as perfection doesn't really exist without a context.

"Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence."
Might shed some light to some, maybe.
