Well I'm pretty immature for my age myself, but it's a different kind of immature to the type you described. I laugh at crappy jokes, I enjoy childish games like Pokemon and viva pinata etc. But I'm smart, work hard and can act very mature when I need to, so there's not really a problem (I'm 18 btw).

I am just going to toss this out there but maturity isn't acting serious and never having fun or being fun. Maturity is knowing when things are more important than yourself and taking responsibility for your decisions and actions.

This is a somewhat current problem of mine - I took a gap year, was an English teacher/youth worker, travelled, saw and did a lot of stuff, and was pretty independent. It required me to mature. Then I came back, and it seemed like nothing had changed for some of my friends. I just cant run around and act immature like I did before, it feels kinda wrong - like Im somehow taking everything I experienced/learned in that year and chucking it out the window.

EDIT: Im turning 21 though, so I dont think this should be an issue at 13! Either your current situation at home/school requires you to be mature (I honestly cant say since I dont know you, Im just suggesting it) or maybe you should loosen up a bit?

I'm 18 and I like to think I've found a happy medium between being mature and being super immature.
One thing I've learned is that there is a time and a place for everything.

you're not mature. you just think you are because your friends are slobbering idiots.

noones really mature until they've had kids for a couple years and have to deal with taxes, and the prospect of going to jail. Myself included.

If you're concerned about the maturity of your peers, that's promising, but what you'll learn in time is that all the things you think make you "mature" are just mental constructs.

I also don't mean to paint you with a bad brush, I just think worrying about maturity is a silly thing, because there's no magic age which you reach maturity, and maturity isn't a single faceted thing.

Wow, impressive necro is impressive. The kid that posted this thread could very well be 15 now.

OT: It is just an age thing. Eventually you'll learn that the way other people act has no impact on the way you should act, and others will stop seeming immature. They will just seem different then you. Then again I am legally an adult (not quite an adult because I do not support myself)and the rules are a little different.
