the way i see it is people need food water and air (duh) those are peoples only needs

i have never had sex and dont feel the need to but do you feel the need to have sex?

Not really a physical need, but it can be comparable to mild hunger. There is an urge, but you can ignore it fairly easily.

Whelp, I'm 20 and I don't have a particularly high sex drive. Which is to say that I don't think I have one at all. I'm perfectly happy sitting at home and doing nothing but playing video games in my free time.

Along with survival (eating and drinking) reproduction is one of the two most fundamental drives of any living being. "Need" probably isn't the best word for it but it certainly is a very very very powerful urge.

I think the main thing that people desire most is the brief sense of companionship that comes with sex (even crappy drunk sex with strangers). For that short moment you've won the evolutionary race to spread your genes. That and the fact that a huge part of sex, ie the climax, can be satieted on your own. Do you masturbate OP? I suspect so, and i suspect that pretty much everyone else does too (except people that are getting sex obviously).

If everyone had more sex (safe) everyone would be a lot more happier. Do you know how many problems that would slove. Though people can live very happy normal lives without having sex at all.

Sex is good, it feels good. It's just a natural urge that needs to be fulfilled; there's also the whole, "Reproducing" instinct off it, too.

OP- like you, I never had urges until I first did it. It's kinda like Pringles.

For your consideration:

I grew up overseas in Northern Nigeria, in the middle of the Sub-Sahara savannah, and spent most of my childhood isolated from other whites, and completely cut off from cultural influences both local and Western. Nevertheless, by age 12 I had learned to masturbate though I had never seen porn, or seen a girl naked. Today I am happily married living in Canada, and my wife and I have a lot of fun.

My point is: sex drive in males is usually as normal as feeling tired or hungry. Fight it, hate it, control it, be a slave to it, ignore it or embrace it, but it will almost always be there.

Low sex drive is a physiological problem, mostly caused by lack of proper diet and exercise. Sometimes it can seem quite unrelated, e.g. a chronic pain or infection anywhere in the body, stress, medication side effects, lack of sleep, lack of particular nutrients, can all cause lack of sex drive in someone in their late teens and twenties.

Geeks with a lack of libido usually think "I'm smart, I have these hobbies I enjoy, I've conquered my libido. Besides, I'd rather avoid all that immature and manipulative stuff that guys and girls my age do to hook up."

Because of thoughts like that, they don't realize that a lack of libido suggests something is wrong with them, physiologically, when that's almost always the case. The solution is to search online about natural (non-drug) ways to raise libido, give it a try and see where it takes you.

Need is something required to sustain life. Want is something that is desired but isn't necessary to sustain life. Sex is strange because it is kind of both.

A need? Well, a complete lack of sex can result in negative results, dunno if that qualifies as a need. I guess it's like having Iron in your diet. Too much or too little is generally a bad idea.

I'm going to get a warning for the following statement:
"There's a reason there's been far too many cases of catholic priests abusing altar boys."

Or to put it another way: it might not be a need in the sense that you as a living being need it to stay alive, but as it helps us as a species, we have pretty darn strong biological urges for a reason.

Eh, I have never had it, and don't particularly feel the need too (don't even really want too). Don't know what that proves, beyond the fact that I don't care much for le sexy times.

Biologically speaking, repressing your sex drive can be bad for your health.

But there's no need specifically for sex, that's why God invented hands.
