Oh just to add to the OP - he said he'd think GTAV will suck if it doesn't have cheats, he doesn't want a challenge he just wants to kill people.
But GTA V WILL suck without cheats. You always do a bare minimum of two playthroughs in GTA. One without cheats fo' story, one with cheats fo' carnage, silliness and some of the most bizarre things you will ever witness.
The cheats in IV sucked compared to San Andreas.

Seems more like the guy is just trying to get under your skin, seems like it's working.
Also the media thinks we're "violence obsessed idiots" because that makes headlines that sell, most people in media are gamers themselves so they're just coming up with tag lines that middle aged house wives get upset over so they stay through the commercial break.

Personally I find the people who play games just to kill stuff exactly the same way I see people who try to find greater meaning and depth in games the same: just random blokes who enjoy video games.

Guy on my Twitter has just been tweeting some stupid stuff in the past few minutes:

And I wondered why the media thinks gamers are violence obsessed idiots...discuss?
Met quite a few similar people... generally not very avid gamers. The ones that are should probably be on government watch lists.

Also:
i sold Fallout New Vegas because i kept getting killed when i killed everyone
Tell him this, from me, if you will (hell, use my screenname if you want):

"Hah! Take that, ************! Real open-world games bite back when you act like a particularly idiotic psychopath. I'm glad one of my favorites kicked your sorry ass."

So because he wants to have fun on his way in the game, the game punishing him is okey?...

Well of course, its obvious than the person kinda missed the point, but still, this just came off as harsh.

You yourself said it: Real open-world game. To me that says than the player SHOULD be able to do whatever the fuck they want.
I guess my True Scotsman (and yes, I was aware of my use of the fallacy when I typed it... it was just an emotional response put to words)on this one is an open-world RPG with an internally consistent world. Sounds like yours is more along the lines of a creative sandbox (I like those too, just not as much).

Internally consistent virtual worlds with armed civilizations depicted in them are absolutely justified in having said civilizations retaliate against the player for attacking them. If the player is unprepared for the retaliation due to ignorance of the civilization's capabilities (and a resulting lack of preparation), well... it's the player's own fault. One can be a very successful calculating psychopath in New Vegas. As you said, he missed the point.

So yes, it was meant to come off as harsh. I don't begrudge the guy his playstyle, I begrudge his expectation that every game cater to it.

Hi. I'm Peter Merkin and I'm a video game serial killer(sometimes spree killer). I play almost exclusively to kill things, or at least for the adversarial rush. Whether that's in the form of mowing down hapless pedestrians in GTA or competing with the developer via proxy in something that just has difficult obstacles, for me it's the only game in town.

The obvious question is, why is this inferior to how you enjoy yourself in your free time? Entertainment is entertainment is entertainment, it doesn't really matter how you do it, and one form isn't intrinsically better than any other. Or if it is, good luck demonstrating exactly why that is. You're probably going to have to find an objective, universal source of value and solve a bunch of other multimillennial old philosophical quandaries along the way. But that shouldn't be much trouble for you, right? After all, you've got the power of CONSUMER GRADE FICTIONAL NARRATIVES at your disposal! Heh.

Why do I kill? Well, some people need excitement in order to be excited. And unlike sex, food, intellectual pursuits or emo bullshit, there's no safe, inexpensive way to enjoy it in the real world. This is, I think, why violence is so prevalent in the media. I'd dare go so far as to say that this is entertainment multimedia's most important role. Where else can you sate this perfectly natural human desire without risking imprisonment or hurting something? The simple answer is that you can't, and we're all better off for exploring these urges within the safe confines of virtual worlds.

Next time you feel like bashing someone who enjoys killing in games, stop and consider this: would you rather have us killing fake people on a screen or out there in the real world trying to find more creative ways to entertain ourselves? Hunting animals, or getting into fights, or actually trying to rape and murder other human beings? And "I'd prefer you did neither" simply isn't a realistic option; the world belongs to us, too, and we have(or give ourselves) the same right to pursue happiness as anyone else.

P.S.: here's a screenshot from when I positioned a disembodied head to 'watch' me 'rape' her body in Fallout 3 waaay back in 2008. It was among the very first things I did in that game, and something which I feel has far more macabre cred than that silly old head collection. ;)

Some of you missed out on the part of a previous post I made here which said "privacy of your own home". In your game, on your console, in your house, you can be as crass, violent and as much of a douchebag as possible, but you cross a moral and ethical line when you decide to make a spectacle of it by making clever "bragging" comments on message boards or post videos glorifying such behavior on YouTube. Mainstream media has already pegged the gaming community and anti-social potential serial killers and mass murderers. Way to fan the flames guys.

If someone copy and pasted some of these posts (or this guys Twitter account) and gave them and your IPs to the FBI or NSA, you would be getting monitored, because most of said agencies already, automatically, associate violent games to violent behavior. We're guilty before being proved innocent. That's the world we live in, and all it takes is a little humility and awareness to understand that fact and act accordingly.

As we say here in NYC, "Keep that shit to yourself."

Killing everybody in a game is fun...but not my main focus usually...unless Im playing an older game...like DOOM, or SmashTV.

But some people are just short-sighted idiots who dont appreciate things.

Just killing random things is actually kinda boring I think, especially if it's something like killing all the animals on your RDR ranch or killing random civilians in Prototype (seriously, in Prototype it's pretty much impossible to avoid civilian body counts in the hundreds; how can it possibly be amusing to kill random civilians after your first few minutes in the game?). You have to have an objective, like killing airborne birds with tomahawks in the case of the RDR ranch. Even so, when I start doing that I take it as the first indicator that I've become bored with the game.

Get a grip. People just like to let off steam. Doesn't speak for all gamers, and doesn't make someone a psychopath when they're just venting out all that pent up rage and aggression from their stressful daily lives. Face it, some people don't want a challenge, or a story, they just want an outlet. Who are you to judge?
While i agree with you, im just posting to tell you that I love the Saya avatar <3 admittedly, that many posts on twitter about various games and their lack(or non-lack) of wanton slaughter reeks of troll to me.
