I have an MP3 player, but it's only 2GB and it's not been out of my laptop carry case for months. I don't really use it, I can only fit about 120 songs on it so I only have it for when I really need some music for a long journey. Usually I listen to one of my many countless rock and indie CDs on my laptop, or I listen to Last.fm (library here) [http://www.last.fm/user/Trivun/library] or Youtube. Plus I have countless songs on my laptop anyway.

I personally dislike the ipod from personal experience with both itunes and the ipod itself. I have owned two and both broke due to a bad battery and bad harddrive. Since then I have been using a creative zen with creative media organizer and LOVE it. The sound quality is unrivaled and there are not all the compatibility issues found with the itunes software. Creative has earned my business for years to come with these products.

So what do other people use as an MP3 player that don't use an ipod?

I absolutely love my Zune.

I used to have an Iriver (the one I had was basicly like a stock-standard mini mp3 player), but then I got a PSP. I have had it for several years now and I have had absolubtly no problems with it whatsoever. It has never boken down or failed to play songs to me, and I have never had to send it away. The only downside is the size.

Well I have a 4 Gb Creative Zen

I use iPods but I love Creative Zens and it's the reason I even checked out this thread. Almost everyone in my family has them because they're the only MP3s I buy for anyone. They use to be the top selling MP3 players at my store, but for some stupid reason we stopped carrying them. Supposedly because we never had them in stock. Why? Because I sold them quicker than Creative could make them. Such a shame...

Wow...am I the only one who bought the 30GB version?

I have a 8GB Creative Zen media player, but only use it for music. It freezes on me occasionally, but the could be because i listen to it in my car almost exclusively and its left outside in hot and cold weather all the time, other wise its a good solid mp3 player.

Sansa Fuze, about 2GB I think. I don't have a huge library (about 225 songs at the moment), and I don't watch music videos too often. It was pretty cheap and it gets the job done.

I used to use a Stanza Rhapsody, still have it, but 2GB didn't cut it for me after about a year and a half of owning it.

I have one of those $20 MP3 players and im doing fine with it. i really hate people telling me that i need over 50 gigs of music and pictures, and apps. i really only need 20 songs for whem im out and about in the city.

8gb Zen. Can plug SD cards into it, takes a standardised mini-usb, has excellent sound quality, and I can just drag and drop music. None of this ridiculous iTunes synching bullcrap.

Doesn't have the games that an iPod has, but that's a price I'm willing to pay.

I used to have a Creative Zen Vision:M 30gb, which was great, but I needed more space. I currently use a Cowon Q5W 80gb. Very expensive, and the interface is unhelpful to say the least, but the sound quality is amazing.

I hate iPods and iTunes. They're both buggy and dysfunctional and overpriced.

I use an 8GB Sony Walkman mp3 player. It's $40 less than a 4GB iPod...wtf? Anyway, it's a great mp3 player, much much MUCH more reliable than any iPod.
