I too wish to break out of the ipod monopoly, plus I hate paying the apple tax (50% greater cost for same specs, just for the Apple name).

I particularly want one that can have memory cards like SD cards added as I hate the idea of having to buy a whole new music player just to add more memory.

One thing I'm looking into is an R4 card or similar for my DS that will turn it into a music player.

I use a Creative Zen Mosaic, 2 GB. In my experience, they're indestructible. Mine has been dropped countless times, been stepped/sat on, drowned in water, and it's still working perfectly. I also love all the functions it has, such as FM radio, a microphone, and picture/video capability. Also has very user-friendly interfaces.

I use my iPod. See my desk got part of one corner broken so I keep it under there so my monitor is level. ^-^

To listen to music I use my 16GB PSP Memory Card to store all my music and listen to them on the speaker deck at work.

An old Rio Karma [http://www.digitalnetworksna.com/shop/_templates/item_main_rio.asp?model=261], which I modified with a 16GB CompactFlash card in an adapter.

iPods would be great if they werent made to screw you over in the long run. I got an 80GB one, and if not for the fact its doomed to break, would probably be used by me forever, unless something better (as in, compeltly, not just minor) came along.
If there are any ones that are actually rugged, Id might get it instead though. (The screen mostly, since thats usually what breaks and thats whats NOT covered by teh warrenty)

I had this really great Samsung thing, the T-84 or something evil sounding. But then it broke and i bought and IPod Nano, and it is nothing compared to the Samsung.

I use a SanDisk 2GB Sansa and am perfectly happy with it. I use it exclusively for listening to audio books while I'm running or traveling, so the relatively small storage capacity isn't a problem. For the $30 that I paid it's been worth every penny.

I use a PSP. Considering I don't actually get games for it, I just download podcasts and music.

I don't use any sort of MP3, I never listen to music when out apart from when I'm driving.

Also, is it weird I have iTunes but no iPod?
Alittle... weirdo

I use my Creative Zen(the one from a couple years ago with the pad instead of individual buttons. Although I kind of want to ditch my beloved Zen and get a Slacker G2, cause it's internet radio where there is no internet.

I don"t have an MP3 player. I will occasionally listen to a CD in the car when I drive, but even then I usually end up listening to MPR.

I forgot what it was called but it was basically a USB drive you could attach headphones to. It was primitive and cheaply made but the sound quality was excellent and it worked well enough for my needs.

I didn't start taking music everywhere until recently. My phone died and I had to replace it; the free ones I got as a replacement plays music. So now I use my phone.
