Good topic and post. I agree with some of your points, but, as mentioned above, I feel that PD is really only suitable for games that feature elements of randomisation. Now, that can mean randomised maps, encounters, loot drops or all of these combined.
I can't see what might be fun about replaying hours of scripted gameplay/encounters, in static environments, in the event of failure/death. That would seem pretty tedious to me. I don't tend to replay or keep overly scripted games as it is, unless they can offer some highly visceral experiences.
I do love the idea of a PD option being a feature in more RPG's, though.
