So, Atlus just announced the opening video for Person 4: The Golden. And as expected, it's full of style and great music. Really looking forward to this title.

Apparently they're calling MC "Hero" now, which I'm totally cool with. Opinions?

In my eyes its still doesn't beat the original P4 opening but it looks like Atlus realizes that and just focused on making it fee different which makes it awesome!

Not too fond of the opening, but the game will still be fucking amazing because it's god damned Persona.

Is this some kind of extended version like P3:FES?

In any case, I prefer the original opening by far; this is too colourful and happy, doesn't really fit with the mood of the game, in my opinion. I also don't like the focus on character introduction. Looks very neat, though.

I've watched it about 20 times know and I love the song. Some people say it's too bright for the game but it works for me. Persona 4 has always been the happiest game about murder and probably the happiest game in the whole SMT franchise. It decides to to embrace it here and is pretty awesome for doing so.Would I take it over Pursing my True Self, no but it' still a damn good song that has pumped me up considerably.

Yeah that's the basic gist. They added a new character,Marie, some more personas including new ultimates for everybody, new areas/events and a quiz show among other things

I'd personally say that Persona 4 was a successful experiment in moving the SMT series out of the grimdark, emo haircut style that came from it's existence in the 90's/early 00's.
I expect future Persona games will follow in it's wake, while the main SMT series sticks to it's roots. That's just my speculation, however.
And frankly, I'm happy for it. The less Sasuke tier emo grimdark we have to deal with in games the better.

Liked the opening, and will probably grow to love it in time. I remember the days when Persona 4 was still completely overshadowed by Persona 3, and I'm glad to see P4 finally getting the love and attention that it deserves. Looking forward to the game quite a bit, and hopefully I'll have a PSVita by that time. On the subject of PSVita, I also hope that we get Tales of Innocence R. Highly doubt it, but hey, a boy can dream.

Not a fan of the opening, but I'm okay with that because now that I've already seen it, I'm never going to watch it again because I'll just skip it once I'm playing it.

Still looking forward to the game itself though.

As a total stranger to the franchise, this trailer fails to peak my interest. The only thing I can gather is that the characters look reasonable and are pretty well drawn as far as manga is considered.

hmm thought the opening was terrible to be honest I mean the original Persona 4 opening was nothing special but it was much better than this.
I just checked the opening to Persona 4 ultimate in mayonaka arena for the arcade and thats not very good either.
Not too bothered though because Persona 4 was awesome taken as a whole and im sure golden and arena will be as well (better be or I will be dissapointed).

Does the PS Vita have any other good games yet? Because now I need to seriously consider purchasing one.

I love that opening. It isn't as good as Pursuing My True Self, but it is a lot of fun. Chie not being able to dance is now canon.

I never thought I'd find something I disliked about P4.

But I'm really not into this new opening, just feels wrong. The dancing just seems bizarre and the music feels a lot more airy which is a radical contrast to the weight the original song carried.

So....how many different versions of Persona 4 does that make?
2? Unless you count the anime and fighting game as a "version" rather than spin-offs or adaptations.

It's the opening movie, not a trailer, although I could understand an opening movie often serving as a trailer, but Persona's openings are always stylistic with nothing much revealed other than the characters.

Imagine creatures called shadows existing in dark worlds that sometimes come out into our world. Now imagine there could be a shadow of yourself, representing all the things you hide about yourself that you hate. This was a more prevelant theme in Persona 4, where characters would experience their own shadows and defeat them, turning them into usable "Personas"-representations of their psyche to fight against the shadows.
The game is a turn based JRPG, split into day and night. During the day you go about school and make friendships that power Personas that are a relevant type to the person. At night you go to a designated place and fight shadows. Across the calendar year the game takes you will experience new events happening. I've never gotten very far with a Persona game. I love it's style and concept, the day time is a nice break from the grind and the turn based combat is better than most I try, but it still gets repetitive for me.

I love the dancing. It reminds me of this gem (Chie's especially)

On an actual game related note, what's the deal with Marie? Is she like the new Theodore or will we get to play with her or do we know?

Have to say I hate the new opening. Ignoring the fact that it seems way too upbeat for the game, it just isn't all that interesting. You watch all of the characters dance terribly, then see a bunch of pretty colors. Sad to see the original opening go in favor of this.

Fortunately, the game itself will still be amazing, so I'm not too concerned.
