Persona 5 Domain Name Appears in Registry

Index Holdings recently registered a domain name for Persona 5.

While Atlus confirmed that a new Persona was in development <a href=http://www.ign.com/articles/2010/03/24/atlus-confirms-new-persona-title-in-development>back in 2010, the interceding years have seen company stay fairly quiet on the next entry in the popular RPG franchise. Recent revelations, however, could point to future news concerning the status of Persona 5. Members of the <a href=http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=615726>NeoGAF forum have uncovered a <a href=http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/results.jsp?domain=persona5.jp>WHOIS registry showing that Atlus's parent company, Index Holdings, has taken control of a domain name for Persona 5 in Japan.

While this is in no way a confirmation of anything, it could still be taken as part of preparations by Atlus and Index to ready to the reveal of the series' next game. That being the case, it's worth noting that the domain registration was created on June 25th, mere days before it was discovered that <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/125447-Persona-Developers-Parent-Company-Files-For-Bankruptcy>Index Holdings was filing for bankruptcy. Though Atlus has since affirmed that its operations, both in the United States and Japan, <a href=http://kotaku.com/the-atlus-brand-will-carry-on-says-japanese-hq-656284642>won't be affected by Index's misfortunes, it's still hard not to worry given the dizzying pace that changes can occur on the business side of the industry.

Worries aside, we can only hope this is indeed an indicator of upcoming Persona 5 news. Persona 3 and <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/reviews/461-Persona-4-Video-Review>4 are, in the opinions of many, two of the best JRPGs to come out in years, and while there are some who would likely be content to replay them until the end of time, a new game would obviously be welcome.

Yes, it is a bit worrying. But even so:
It is time to face my true self once again!

I just hope it's on a HOME console and not a HANDHELD console.

3DS and PSV are NOT fun to play for long periods of time.

I dunno, I would be happy with either PS3 or Vita. Cross-buy and Play would be freaking perfect!

I don't doubt development may get delayed a bit due to the whole murky business shenanigans, but Persona 5 WILL happen.

It... it just has to!

It is as inevitable as death,

as inexorable as the soul,

and as unstoppable as Thor with Thunder Reign.

Wait. Hold up there one second. This is going to be delayed in Europe again, isn't it? And if it's for PS3, they will region lock it like they did with P4A. Dammit, armed with that knowledge, I just can't post any gifs in celebration. And I have good ones too!

I don't know. Playing P4:G on my Vita could last for hours on end.

Arena was a special circumstance that they have said was an isolated case.

I honestly can't wait for the impending announcement, I have so much to look forward to JRPGwise and Persona 5 would be the icing on the delectable multi tiered cake that will take me months to devour

Also, it was Ghostlight who are notoriously bad at timely releases. Atlus is now working with NISA to release stuff in Europe, and they will most likely try for a simultaneous release, in Europe and North America if nothing else.

Let me have them. I need to express happiness in ways that only hilarious pics can handle.

You know what I'd like? Persona 3 and 4 released on another platform so people don't need to buy a Vita for two damn games. It's getting kind of tiring how many Japanese series (both game and anime) I'd like to get into, but are missing out on due to really poor decisions.

If it's possible for a port for the Vita, then I can't see how a PSN classic of it can be that difficult.
