Just posting something that might be of interest to the Escapist.

Evidently, a lot of Persona related videos have disappared from youtube, being taken down because of a copyright claim by Светлана Галка.

I would appreciate it if the Escapist would investigate this matter.

Or simply search Persona related videos on Youtube. Soundtracks more than anything else.

Patent and copyright trolls like these need to be fought at every turn.

Word's going round that it might be some sort of phishing scam, as apparently when you file whatever it is you file to try and get the video back up, you have to put in certain details, which the other person can then see. Shitty if it's true.

I already wrote up my thoughts about this via blog, but if this is someone impersonating a Russian celebrity to gain people's personal information (or more amusingly disturbing, a Russian model turned scammer) then this person should have their accounts disabled and those whose channels have been terminated restored, as well as their videos. It's disgraceful how bad YouTube has gotten with their automatic flagging and copyright claims.

It's crazy BS to see how many persona videos got taken down especially the Hiimdaisy comic. I remember people getting concerned but when that channel went down people flew to take action.

Youtube has awful copyright policies. Not surprised they leak information like this. This is google we're talking about.

I did an LP of Warhammer 40,00: Space Marine and some Italian magazine put a copyright claim on my videos and there was basically nothing I could do about it.

Oh yeah, Youtube is the worst for copyright. Major companies can annihilate any video or user that uses their content regardless if it's proper use (coughviacomcough) while anyone can file a fake copyright report and it'll get through due to Youtube moderating the reports using programs and bots rather than actual people.

Even worse when people love to use fake names, I remember when a bunch of videos were taken down, the supposed copyright holders all having names from Family Guy. It's very poor on Google's part.

Svetlana Galka?

That... sounds... familiar... Anyone remember that name from anywhere?

EDIT: She's an actress. 99% chance this is a straight up copyright troll.

As a majority of my "likes" are Persona videos, I noticed this not too long ago. Hopefully, YouTube will get its collective shit together long enough to restore those videos and deal with this asshat swiftly.

I mentioned this in another thread and gave a bit of detail I saw in the sourced forum thread. So I'm just going to quote that post.

The only thing that I've noticed being weird on YouTube at the moment is the amount of Persona music and videos being taken down due to "copyright infringement" recently. And it doesn't appear to be anyone Japanese that is making YouTube pull these videos. I wonder what the hell is going on?
Supposedly some Russian actress or singer is going around passing out copyright claims to any video with the word "persona" in them. Why does she think that she can actually do this? Apparently she is from a website called "Persona Stars". Not to mention that youtube copyright claims can pass for even similar words, she can do this. If it was Atlus filing copyright claims I can understand but some random Russian celebrity just because she has the word persona in one of her song titles really annoys me.

And here is her part of the site (apologies for the big URL):

I talked about this earlier in the Persona user-group.

Shit got real very quickly, and videos were disappearing left and right. Currently, her account is under suspicion, so there's no telling whether or not this shit is going to continue.

Hopefully, the account will be terminated and we'll never have to deal with this shit again.

As a side note, this whole fiasco just goes to show you how broken the Youtube flagging system is. This is exemplified by how the Hiimdaisy comic dub and account that uploaded it were terminated without notice. That's fucked up.

This is why I loathe YouTube's copyright system because as of right now it is entirely broken. I've been doing LPs myself for about a year and a half now, and I've had to deal with a lot of copyright claims. So far I've won all of them, but some of them I never had to go fully through the process with as I didn't wanna deal with the hassle, so I modified my video a bit to fall under Fair Use.

The ones that are from the actual company that made the game I'm playing I acknowledge as being theirs since it is, but most of the times it has been from false flaggers. I'm sure not many people remember a couple of years ago when that false flagger managed to get both NintendoCaprisun and Chuggaconrroy banned from YouTube for a short while before they were reinstated by Google.

Here's a story of false flagging that happened to me a few months back at the beginning of my Spyro 3 Year of the Dragon LP. When I had to redo my episode 1 of the Kingdom Hearts Final Mix Let's Play I muted the audio for Simple and Clean at the beginning, so as to fall under the Fair Use Act of 1976. Well turns out I still received a copyright claim, from the Orchard Music Group. They claimed that I used copyrighted music from them, which was not true since if anyone has a claim to it they would be EMI Studios Japan for songs like Simple and Clean or Sanctuary, and Square Enix for Yoko Shimomura's work. But the best part is the parts of the video that they claimed "infringed on their copyright." The part that they claimed was the completely muted audio of Simple and Clean, there was no music and there was no commentary, just the blank video. So basically they were claiming to own silence I guess. Well that's not all, because a few days later, Orchard Music Group did the same thing again by claiming I used their audio when the part of the video they flagged had no audio at all. Got through to them eventually and got them to remove the strikes, but it was still a pain in the ass.
