Hello All!
I am interested in purchasing one of the mentioned above fighting games and I was wanting input on which game would be best! I have never played any of these games or their past version, so I have no preference really. All I need is good character roster, lots of online people to play against, fun mechanics and good replay-ability. Thanks for answering =D

P.S. feel free to suggest other fighting games as long as they are for Xbox 360 or PC.

I'm waiting for Tekken X Street Fighter to be released, I don't like the Street Fighter graphic style. I'd recommend Tekken 6 such a good game or maybe try one of the Soulcaliber games.

Meh. Fighting games are kinda like action figures. You don't start to dislike them with age, you just stop playing with them is all.

Last fighter I remember enjoying was Marvel vs Capcom.

So go with that :p

Depends on how you like your fighters.

Street Fighter is more about tactical mind games, getting your opponent to do something you can punish.

Marvel vs Capcom is balls to the walls actions and is at a much faster pace.

I prefer MvC

Never played SF X Tekken and from what I have seen I dont intend to start.

[b/]SSFIV:AE[/b] is good and quite cheap now, it has a lot of depth but its not easy to uncover it all also the single player mode is crap.

[b/]Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom[/b] is good and fast paced but it can be a little to fast paced at times and get confusing with all the tag team stuff but is fun and decent single player.

[b/]Blazblue continuum shift extend[/b] : pretty damn good single and multiplayer (very rarely get lag) but it plays very differently to something like SF which took me some getting used to, honestly though well worth a look see what you think.

[b/]Mortal Kombat Komplete[/b] : Great single player but combat is probably the weakest out of all these games I am listing but it is the best out of any MK game I have played it also has my favourite story mode.

[b/]Soul Calibur 5[/b]: Good combat game that lacks single player content but the actual fighting is good and the character creator feature is great fun if you are into that.

[b/]Skullgirls[/b]: Fun but lacking in features its also cheap but now you can probably get most of these games for a similar price.

[b/]King of Fighter XIII[/b]: Very impressive gameplay but maybe a bit too tight for its own good making it quite a difficult game.

Alrite thats the ones I have played recently I would just do a quick search on each if you dont know what one looks like if you are going to play a lot of offline multiplayer any will do online Blazblue is the best by far in my experience (for stability). At the moment though I am playing a lot of SSFIV:AE after a long break as its comfortable to me but still has a lot of depth and new tricks to learn.

Whether you think any of these has a good character roster or not only you can decide but with the exception of Skullgirls each has quite a few characters to try. Replay-ability is also questionable as its a fighting game if you really get into it any of these will last you a long time.

If I was really pushed looking at youre criteria I would say either SSFIV:AE or BBCSExtend would be the ones to go for but all of those mentioned I have and do enjoy at different times just stay away from SF x Tekken if you want online play I dont know from first hand experience but I have heard quite a few times it is pretty awful KoF XIII wasnt that great online either last time I played which was a shame.

I would have to go with Ultimate marvel vs capcom 3 . Fun , fast pace , easy to learn , hard to master , 52 character roster , Active online comunity , superheros/supervillains , infinite number of character combination.

Con: offline is meh .

SF4 - Solid all around with a diverse and balanced roster. Skews much more towards fundamental play but this can be a very good thing if you're fairly new to the genre. Supports all levels of players pretty well though it's more methodical nature could turn off those looking for a faster flashier (and more button mashing friendly) game. Lots of people online.

Marvel 3 - Wild, crazy and fast. Fundamentals will help you, of course, but it's almost more about getting into the groove of the game with this one. Roster is not terribly balanced, but there are some definite good and bad choices. Can be fun for all levels of player and it's easy to pick up, but a new player will have absolutely no chance against someone who knows what they are doing. They'll die, and they'll die fast.. and often they may not even know why. Lots of people online, but many are really good so the experience isn't always fun if you're a new player.

SFxT - Solid title but not the best choices unless you really like the roster or play style. It can be flashy but flashy is often not the best way to play, and "proper" play can be frustrating with simple poke pressure being so powerful. I won't say stay away from it as I don't mind it myself and capcom has said they are looking into a large scale overhaul to change the way it plays, but try it if you can before buying. Also be on the look out for a likely large price drop. Online is still populated but dying fast.

SC5 - Don't play and don't want to. If online play is important to you then I'd be worried. The community for the game is dying a fast death.

Tekken 6 - Great game with an unfortunately unbalanced roster. Online is likely pretty dead by now as the game is fairly old, but you can find it very cheap and it will set you up extremely well for the coming Tekken Tag Tournament 2 which is going to be crazy popular. I would recommend picking it up just to get experience in the series alone. It's also a game that does support mashing to some extent. A masher will never beat someone who knows what they are doing, but if you're looking to maybe play with someone who just hits buttons and wants cool stuff to happen, it's a better bet than any of the Capcom fighters.

VF5: Final Showdown - not out quite yet, but will be very soon. Available on XBL and PSN. Super deep and super technical, but if you learn how to play VF, you will be better at every other fighting game, guaranteed. Also, since the game is only available through online services, the online community is likely to be pretty good at least at the start.

Mortal Kombat - a game I'd never recommend. There are just so many other better fighting games out there unless you're someone who needs blood and guys in your games to enjoy them. That said, it is playable and has a supportive community unlike, say, SC5 so you could do worse.

Wait! Persona 4: Ultimate Mayonaka Arena is just around the corner!!!

From the creators of Guilty Gear, this promises to be one of this gen's best fighters... period.

I was going to mention this but since its not out yet I cant really say whether its good or bad but it certainly looks ace and is the game I have been looking forward to the most all year Ive decided Chie will be my main, Galactic punt for victory.

Since the threads about fighting games Ill also add [b/]Dead or Alive 5[/b] as my second most looked forward to game of the year sometimes I want an indepth hardcore intricate fighter and other times I want a fighter that is just fun to mash along with but still offer enough depth to be worth playing which is what DOA has always brought. Plus its had a good long rest now which it sorely needed now im ready for some more.

I have never even heard of that until you posted hmmm not really my thing but worth checking out if your interested which looking by your avatar you are :) its good there are new fighting IPs still coming out.

Oh and there is also another free PC fighting game out called [b/]M.U.G.E.N[/b] which is highly moddable and has a few thousand characters, stages etc its worth a look anyway but obviously its not the most balanced of fighters but it can be good fun.

Also since you seem to be interested in Skullgirls I will slightly expand my very small original descriptive blerb basically at the moment it looks and plays well very well the tutorial is also great but falls down in that the training mode isnt that brilliant (at the moment) and there are no character specific tutorials basically I found it a fantastic setup but feels like there should be more still it beats any other fighting game tutorial I have ever played. The character roster is tiny like the original sf2 but each one feels unique and play very differently Valentine is my personal fave as she has a great rushdown game.

Single player feels very limited the story mode is naff and arcade dosent feel very progressive due to the tag team nature of the game and small roster you fight the same characters a lot, still on the upside at least you get to see what each can do. Also the AI is brutal they dont cheat (except the last boss) but they will punish you for any mistake even on easiest TBH it should probably be toned down a little.

Oh and last boss is absolute crap but apply that to every title I have mentioned except SC5 who dont have last bosses just cheating AI in legendary souls mode.

I think though by the time the PC version is released a fair number of these issues will be fixed including the lack of in game character move lists also the first 2 DLC characters will have hopefully been released.
Hey thanks for all of that great info! I am really looking forward to skullgirls and hopefully it will be a pc release this summer so I can actually play before school starts back up =D
