As I was eating one of my favorite, yet odd snacks, my girlfriend's sister tells me it sounds disgusting. I thought about this, and decided I wanted to ask my fellow Escapists: What weird food combos do you eat? For me, my snack is plain ripple potato chips covered with Worcestershire Sauce. I've heard from many people that it's strange, but I just came up with it one day in the kitchen.

I mix soda fountain drinks every time I see one. However, I hate Fanta.

Anyway, I am reputed for making Awesome Sauce concoctions that look terrible, but smell really good, and taste exquisite. It involve medium-to-hot chunky salsa, red pasta sauce or similar compatible zesty sauce, possibly other vegetables (optional), grated cheese (optional, but well-desired), and some sort of sliced cheese on top to be configured in a way that covers it in a layer of lovely melted chedder. (Note that swiss and provolone don't work, but colby is passable) Sometimes, I add cayenne pepper or tabasco sauce.

I used to eat mashed potatoes and mix in crushed Doritos when I was a kid. I also used to eat cornbread crumbled up into milk. Now as an adult I can't stand the smell or taste of milk, but I can eat it on cereal.

Today I make what I think is awesome nacho covering, I cant really call it a sauce as it is mega thick. Mixing velvetta cheese, hamburger meat, onions, peppers, garlic, cheddar, jack, mozzarella cheeses, salsa, bean dip, a bunch of different spices, refried beans and heating all that up in a slow cooker. I usually only make it once a year or so for big events like the Stanley Cup Playoffs or the superbowl. Also I love toast with peanut butter and bacon. I used to add bananas as well but a few years ago I became allergic to them.

Me and my family (including my uncle) Were on holiday in Florida and were eating at a Burger King, we had 4 different drinks, Dr Pepper, Fanta, Sprite and Diet Coke, we were bored and we weren't going to finish the tiny bits at the bottom of our cups so we poured it all into one cup and...it actually tasted pretty good.
Got a simular one. Whenever I'm at some hamburger joint I mix Fanta with Coca-Cola. Tastes awesome, but some people think it's weird. Pretty sure my family learned it(my mom does it too) when we were on holiday in Austria. They got a drink called Spezi that's made of cola and orange soda.

As for real food stuffs I can't think of anything. I tried a sandwhich with cheese and kaviar(fish egg paste, Swedish thing, delicious as fuck) once and it was awesome. I was a bit drunk, so any food could've tasted like it was made by a pro chef though.

People here think I'm crazy for mixing mayo and ketchup for dipping my fries. I find it mellows out the harsh tang of the ketchup.

Chili sauce and pickle gherkin/onion sandwiches.

And it has to be the real hot stuff as well, not that sugary sweet crap.

I used to have Vegemite, Nutella and Cheese sandwiches when I was around 3. God knows why, everyone thought I was crazy. I just combined three things I liked and nommed it all down.

A plain veggie burger on your choice of buns, and tomato bruschetta. It's pretty great. Not too bad for you, either. Lightlife are the preferred veggie burgers. I've been told it's a little weird that I eat my burgers completely plain save the bruschetta. I've also been told it's weird that I prefer veggie burgers over regular ones.

That, and whenever I'm unsure what'll taste good on something, I usually try it with ketchup. And it works!

I'm a cook so very little seems weird to me anymore.

That said, work had a dipping sauce that was basically all the bottled shit you would find in your fridge blended together. I was too appalled at the idea to even find out what it tasted like. I was told it had a flavour like mustard which makes sense as there was mustard in it and there was a lot of vinegar in the shit that went into it.

When I was a kid (early/mid 80's) there was Fanta Black Orange, which is basically the same thing.

I don't think I do any very strange combinations, though some people frown on me combining pork with sauce béarnaise.

Firstly, there's the PB&C- Peanut butter and plain (unflavoured) potato chips/crisps. It's like crunchy peanut butter, but so much better! And there's the 'Australian version' of the PB&C: the V&T- Vegemite and Twisties.[footnote]For the uninitiated, Twisties are a cheese flavoured snack food, kinda like Cheetos I guess, but a lot crunchier.[/footnote]

Sometimes if I've got some leftover homemade rissoles, I'll put them on bread with some Heinz baked beans, and grill some cheese over the top...

I can't think of any strange food combinations that I do, but I went to university with a guy who tried to convince me that humus and doughnuts were delicious. I haven't had the courage to try it myself, but it is definitely the strangest food combination I have heard of.

The only really strange food combo I can think of that I really like is a peanut butter & dill pickle sandwich. As far as drinks go, Code Red Mountain Dew & orange juice go together quite well.

My most recent discovery was adding sweet chilli sauce and brie to a tin of beans. Sweet, spicy, gloopy, yum.

There was also the time I combined Mint Sauce (usually for lamb) onto a sausage roll, that was tasty.
Huh, I'll try to remember and give that a pop some time. Actual proper mint sauce or would the jarred mint jelly work fine?

My example is houmous and oven pizza, never had it with doughnuts though!
Also, cheddar and ketchup sandwiches.

Yeah that's pretty much what I thought. Cheers! (Although the woman hates mint, so she'll have a good moan if she finds that stuff in the fridge..)
