Urg, getting locked in for a year? Such a final decision. I hate gym contracts lol. If you shop around you might find someone good who will just take pay by the hour.

Oh btw hi Tippy2k2

All of this. Many workouts should included heavy lifting and "rehab" like exercises. The first session should be an assessment.

I used to be a PT for 5 years. One thing I did was give a money back guarantee. It sure made sure the client and I took it seriously. I always talked about how the exercises were proscribed (as in like a doctor) and how they will achieve their goals.

Lastly, I've seen a lot of trainers and not many are good. But after 4 years from last using a trainer, I personally found it a thousand times easier to train right and eat well using a PT. You spending your own money on something important to you will help crystalise your decisions

Hey Tippy! Real-life personal trainer here, so take that for all of the experience -and biases- it's worth.
Thank you for all the information. These sound like great questions to look into when making this decision so I'll keep these in mind when making the decision. Some of it I already know (They showed me how it is individualized and he asked me my goals and hopes when we talked about doing PT and I know he has at least college level education, though I don't know his exact certificates) but others like hands-on and his methods I can now ask about.

And that's what makes this decision so much harder. I'm on shaky ground financially already and while this won't break me, it could put me in a pickle if shit hits the fan. As for shopping around, I have found most places have this same pricing or higher unfortunately and many places require you to be members of their gym to do PT.

Man, i gotta stop reading this at work. No way i can convey what i want on a phone on a website that doesnt work on a phone.

Tippy, whats right for you is right for you. But i would recommend against a pt. You have the internet to teach you information on your diet, which is one 3rd of the puzzle. Probably half, in hindsight. Excercise is there to maintain your body and allow it to use the resources it has been given. Most experiences my friends have had with pts have ended poorly. I will come back to this thread after work to read whats up, and impart my own advice.
