Random chances. Screw anything that relies on luck instead of skill.
Enemies that don't flinch when hit in beat-em-ups. Unless it's a big slow giant, hitting an enemy should interrupt whatever it was doing and stun it for a few fractions of a second. Otherwise, being open to attack from the enemy that you just punched in the face is just cheap.

Got to disagree there. The lamest things in games for me is when I realize that the scene doesn't continue unless I do something.stompy said:
There just has to be some penalty for going to explore the jungle when you're supposed to board the evacuation plane or searching and picking ammo when a colossal space ship is crashing down on you or when a self-destruction is activated and you stay somewhere killing enemies.
People who hate losing. For example, while playing Halo I joined a game on the losing team and turned the game around. Then, the people in the previously winning team kick me for being too good. I don't mean to blow my own trumpet, but it really pisses me off.
Another thing i hate in terms of the game itself is when i'm playing and I get stuck going round in circles, usually in an FPS. Like the offices in FEAR. They were like the maze of no return.

Exploits and people who utilise overkill (2 guys with rocket launchers vs. one fellow with a pistol?...that can't be fair), if a guy kills me in a genuinely skilled way (eg: strafes around me with the shotty, uses melee or uses the sinper in a nomadic fashion rather than camping in one location or attempting to no-scope with the damn thing) then I have no problem with that and will useually congratulate the person in question, otherwise, its useually the other guy making himself out to be Zues himself while repeatedly calling me a 'noob' or 'pussy' (at these times I don't have to say anything).
Hackers, I've only encountered this once or twice but its still annoying all the same. I was playing CnC 3 online as GDI once and right at the begining of the battle (when most people are bulding their power plants,refineries etc.) a NOD barracks (remember that I was GDI) pops up in the middle of my base with a constant stream of engineers capturing and selling my buildings while the player responsible is continually howling with laughter over the mic and generally hurling abuse.

and this is possibly the 1 downfall of the Unreal3 engine. they still haven't integrated a seamless environment spawn system. -Invisible walls (on a side note Fable is one of my favorite games ever)
-Drastic changes between games in a series (I'm thinking of you AoE III)
-Copy protection (all that does is annoy the people that legitimately acquired the game)
-No cheats because they can be fun to screw around with (Thinking of you AoE I because that was just amazing)
-No support for mods/custom content because they are like cheats and add to the life and re playability of games (I love you Morrowind and Oblivion)
-No support for alternative keyboards (It's very annoying to have to set up my controls to work with my Dvorak layout and shame on you Valve for not supporting that. I expected more from you)
-Getting tea-bagged (especially by little kids) that killed you in a very average way.
-Spawn Camping
-Little or no allied AI (or worse bad/dumb AI allies)
-Fact that Console games cost more than a PC game yet a PC game requires more work to it so that it will work on a variety of hardware and setups. Greedy...
-Games that are rushed out the door (I've heard horror stories about you Alone in the Dark)
-Spammers of anything
-Games announced early in production then you have that dreadfully long wait (Any Blizzard game)
-No support for linux (I don't like having to restart my computer just to play games)
-Product placement in games (Oddworld Munch's Odyssey and Sobe drinks come to mind. That irked me a lot and I love Sobes)
-Pretty much all racing game AI (AI Racers are almost always in the same lineup and faster if you're in first and slower if you're in last and the lack of random crashes)

Well that's all I can think of right now
people that get into a grudge match PvP situation, you beat them 4 times in a row and then when they beat you once they proceed to tea bag, spit, and make other unsportly comments and/or gestures.
similarly, when you are outnumbered 5 to 1... kill everybody and then 1 guy respawns and kills you when you are down to minimal health. he then calls you a noob.
