I don't like being cruel to animals, or other people being cruel to animals. But I do like eating them. I've thought this over and over in my head, and no matter how paradoxalit seems I can't stop eating meat.

If they think Phil's in pain, they should "save" royalty (born into a comfortable position, not really deserving it).

I've always hated PETA... Multiple good reasons but I won't be listing them. This is just creepy

just take what they say with a pinch of salt, earlier they wanted to call fish sea bunnies to make them seem more cuddly
Sea kittens actually and the argument was "Would you kill a kitten?"
If kittens tasted like tuna, Yes.

"Tradition is no excuse for cruelty"

Yes it is.

OT: Didn't we just go over not to feed the trolls?

Why isn't there a report button in real life?

Oh. Punxsutaney Phil. The luckiest groundhog in Pennsylvainia. As opposed to the second luckiest groundhog in Pennsylvainia from the lottery commercials. I was kind of hoping this'd be about that groundhog, Always wondered what that thing was about.

If PETA had their way then there would be people following cows around to offer them a tissue if they look like they'll sneeze.

Stop the vegans, eat a cow.
Alternatively, eat a vegan.

Om nom nom.
Don't have shrimp. put a vegan on the barbie
Vegan: It's what's for dinner.
Vegan, the other other white meat.

Say that to all the people trying to ban all the crap they do with bulls in Mexico. Tradition is crap. With grown out of half of them. It's what holds us back most of the time.

I doubt they are GOOD reasons.

So? Do you know where your meat comes from? You probably being cruel to the rest of us. Unless you eat organic and local meat, you can do a massive amount of damage on this earth.

PETA also puts about 2/3 of the animals they "rescue" to death.
check out thier annual information to see exactly how many kittens they "saved"
Like vets and animal shelters and SPCA and... dare I go on? It's cruel to keep them. It's impossible to keep them. Not enough people will take them and they can't dump them in the forest to fend for themselves. Some animals they save are injured beyond physical repair and some they save would have litter of children due to owners not desexing them. I see nothing wrong. Everyone who cares for animals do this.

They also wanted Phish to change their name to The Sea Kittens or some crap like that, and tried to tell people drinking beer is healthier than milk. I think we all know that they are, indeed, completely stir-bugs.

You wouldn't happen to be an animal sympathizer, would you?
Did I come off as one?

Yes. And environmentalist to a degree. I haven't made clothing from bamboo and hemp plants yet.
A little.

I honestly think some animals are too tasty to be treated "humanely," but they do at least deserve a quick death. That's about as far as I'm willing to sympathize though.

But, but it's one of my favourite movies!

In all seriousness PETA can you just cut it out. Nobody is ever going to take you seriously, every member of your pathetic little organization is a walking joke. "Freeing Phil so we can always see an early spring" what do you even mean.

However you spin it, PETA takes healthy animals away from their owners, sterilizes them and kill them.

If that's "Ethical Treatment", then how come euthanasia isn't allowed on humanity?

PETA is just another bunch of nutcases that is using a good doctrine as an excuse to bully, maim and proselytize.

Their leader has stated she wants to destroy all animal testing, apart from the pork that is used to make her insulin as she wants to carry on living.

"Let me set the record straight. PETA does not condone or commit violent acts, nor do we threaten anybody with violence."
--Deseret News, February 12, 2002
"I'm an insulin-dependent diabetic. Twice a day I take synthetically manufactured insulin that still contains some animal products -- and I have no qualms about it ... I'm not going to take the chance of killing myself by not taking insulin. I don't see myself as a hypocrite. I need my life to fight for the rights of animals." --Mary Beth Sweetland

Targetting children?

"Everything we do is based at adults."
--PETA President Ingrid Newkirk on CNN, March 21, 2002
"Our campaigns are always geared towards children and they always will be."
-- PETA Vice President Dan Matthews on FOX News, Dec 19, 2003

Now I will gladly donate to the RSPCA and others, (hell, Artemis came from there) but I refuse to support a charity that uses media attention to fund murder and terrorism.

Protecting animals is a worthwhile cause, misguided attempts like this attempted law from Florida
"A person who, for the purpose of practice, entertainment, or sport, intentionally fells, trips, or otherwise causes a cow to fall or lose its balance by means of roping, lassoing, dragging, or otherwise touching the tail of the cow commits a misdemeanor of the first degree."
show the creep of H&S regulations onto animals.

Personally, I hope animals never have to deal with the bloody fools we have to, because in nature, the scavengers get the crap beaten out of them by those that actually do some work.

Peta perturbs me
I went out with a girl who was a member once
She was a little loopy but some of her mates were bording on extremist
I think a lot of people in PETA value animal life above human life
As proven by their terrorist activities performed in the name of "humane" treatment for animals. Technically human beings are animals, which makes me wonder how they could do such inhumane things to other humans...

Honestly, I fail to see how Phil is being "mistreated". He's a groundhog, also known as a woodchuck (which is one of the most-hated animals by farmers and other livestock owners), yet they turned him into a fucking celebrity. Yes, it's so cruel to make people like an animal that farming communities despise...
Couldn't agree more, it seems bizarre that picking up a groundhog for approximatley one minute a year is cruel. I doubt its that stressful for Phil, if he was under any really pressue he would lash out and escape. I suppose domesticated dogs and cats are wrong too?

Why would they want to do that? What did Punxsutawney Phil ever do?
I believe this falls into their category of 'animals being used for the pleasure of humans, therein indignifying them.'
Its not like Phil is being forced to star in animal porn. If Phil was a goat, sodomised on camera and his mom got to see the tape, I could maybe see how it counts.

Calling kittens land fish is all kinds of mint...

If I was hungry, I'd eat cat.
Haha! I didn't say it made SENSE. I just said that they had a rationalization for their stance.
