Hey long time no post guys, but I caught something that really Grinds My Gears.
Peta for kids.

http://www.petakids.com/save_animals.asp

There are so many issues with this page.

THis is a stupidly misinformed site that is aimed at impressionable 5 year olds to force their stupid beliefs on stupid kids stupid stupid.

And, I'm not incredibly right wing or anything,These guys just have it so very wrong it's scary.

"Does your school have a student-choice policy allowing students the right to refuse to dissect? Are there animals being held hostage at your school, commonly known as ?classroom pets? or ?hatching experiments?? Do your teachers plan yearly field trips to the zoo? It?s your school, too, and that means that your voice counts, so speak up and let your teachers know that there are alternatives to animal exploitation*. And don?t forget to recruit your classmates to help you tackle these issues!"

*And if you don't know how, PETA will do school assignments FOR you(?!!)

Look, I don't know if I'm overreacting, but it seems to me that it's scarily misinformed and that sites like this shoud not be aimed at such a young age, especially something so contreversial. Scaring kids out of absolutely anything and telling them to yell the slogans at any potential friend is a good way for the kid to not make friends, the most important thing to learn at that age.

It jsut seems so...Wrong...

PETA is the Westboro Baptist Church of vegetarians. Brainwashed trolls that are best ignored.

Holy hell, I clicked on the (broken) circus link. It sent me here:

http://www.peta.org/main404.asp

So, it's apparently my fault your link doesn't work? Fuck you, PETA. Fuck you and your bunny.

More OT: I'm not sure how having Mr. Whiskers (my 2nd grade class' pet hamster) was harmful... This seems pretty shady.

Yes Peta, taking care of a small animal that gets eaten all the time in the wild, keeping it happy and healthy, is torture.

I fucking hate PETA

its because they do more harm than good, they spread lies and misinformation and give a bad name to animal rights, fucking phychos if their motivations were somthing else then they would be branded an extremist group and/or terrorists

like the mulsing issue in Australia...excuse me PETA we do that to sheep for a REASON (preventing fly strike) what you think we do it just for the lulz?

I see no problem here, personally. If people are allowed to raise their children Christian, sports fans or metalheads, this seems reasonable.

Not that I like PETA's actions. Their ethics, maybe. Not their actions.

That website uses the word "leaflet" as a verb...
SHUDDER.
Anyway, PETA. What can be said that hasn't already? Kids probably shouldn't be doing this kind of thing until they're old enough to understand the implications. Then again, I wouldn't be saying that if I were a kid.

Their basic values aren't that bad, it's just the way they over react. I mean, do you really like seeing an animal caged up for your entertainment?

At first I thought you meant is there something like a PETA for kids, cause I was gonna say, thats why the US has the CPS (child protective services).

But this... meh. I always think its disgusting to use kids to advocate a cause, especially when they dont need to be involved or worried about such things beyond their age.

Though I never saw anyhting wrong with a class pet. Most times the animal wouldnt survive in the wild, or if they did, they're one of those animals from really large birth litters saying that essentially nature knows the little bastards are gonna get picked off, so whats the big deal?

PETA's always good for a laugh and nothing more. They're a huge self parody and that's about it.

My class pet isn't caged up, the bird (this is high school and the teacher is awesome) sits on its stand and goes to someone whenever it wants attention, it gets regular food and gets to bite whoever it wants without punishment.

No worse than raising a kid from infancy in any given religion. It's all attempted brainwashing with twisted facts.
