PETA: Political activists or Whiney attention seeking bitches

I've heard a lot of PETA over the years in their various disputes. And I am wondering... What how my fellow escapists see them.

Are they making a difference and having a positive effect?
Or are they emotive sensationalist clowns?

Any movement is going to have elements of both. Some people in PETA are doing or trying to do genuinely good things that I think most people are in favour of or at least are not against, while others do stupid things that harm the animal rights image, put it into conflict with other concerns, or invent fake issues.

PETA is such a huge organisation that it becomes grossly unfair to generalise about it and let the actions of a few taint the whole image, and vice versa; the genuine, sane ones aren't representative of the whole movement either.

Yes, you heard me. They are absolutely crazy extremists. We're talking about a group that has suggested suing people on the behalf of animals. A group that literally kills more animals than they help. You want to know who hurts the animal rights movement? It's PETA. I love animals. Cats are fluffy fur balls, dogs are fun, cows and chickens are delicious. PETA does nothing good for anyone and literally disregards humans in favor of animals.

Also, PETA is not afraid to lie to you to get what they want. Most of the things they say are lies or half truths. I've had members of PETA just neglect to tell me who they were and promise me and my friends a DVD of music videos for signing a petition. Turns out the DVD was PETA propaganda. We watched it with a meat lovers pizza.

PETA does more to hurt the animal rights movement than anything and really needs to stfu.

I'm not saying they're entirely bad, after all, some members do go around giving out free dog houses and their free spay and neuter clinics are amazing. The rest of it though... you just can't take anyone who calls fish "sea kittens" seriously.
