Why, God, why are they so smug when they didn't even bother to read the OP?

They are protesting against THE REAL seal clubbing USING World of Warcraft, not protesting against virtual seal clubbing in world of warcraft.
Hey. I read the OP. It says nothing like that and I challenge you to show me where it does. It's very vague ("I'm not sure what all this means. Is this a "real" thing?") but it sounds like the sort of idiotic thing PETA would complain about so it's reasonable to assume it's real.

Also, PETA's site, as linked in the OP, which I also read (and you obviously didn't), makes it sound like it's based entirely in the game.

PETA is moving in on DEHTA's turf. I'm cheering for DEHTA. At least they aren't real.

I hate PETA... I love animals. I would never hurt one without there being a good reason. But I hate PETA...

I agree with PETA on the fact that the Seal hunt is sick (mostly because these Seals are days old), but I find this completely retarded.
There's bigger fish to fry. What's really sick is the retreat of the Arctic ice. It is now going into summer as the thinnest it's ever been. Global warming will kill far more seals than people ever will. You will never hear the words "sustainable population" from these Sea Shepard and PETA people and all that. It's just "seal slaughter." What matters is the long term sustainability of the species. With global warming at current rates, the entire Arctic ecosystem could be utterly destroyed, killing all the seals. In fact, if current CO2 emissions levels are maintained, the world will heat up by 6.4 degrees celcius by the end of the century, which will kill not only all the seals, most of all other life as well in a great, global apocalypse. Humanity will be reduced to a few bands of people struggling for existence at the poles, but those people with clubs, barely reducing the seal populations by anything at all, are murderers. WOW.

So...they're complaining about killing virtual seals to create a kinda parallel to real life...I think? It would be a brilliant ad campaign if that were the case, but it can be interpreted as them protesting the killing of make-believe seals, which just looks dumb. Having said that, why are they an *air quotes* "all-Canadian guild" devoted to seal clubbing? It's not like Canadians club seals recreationally...

What's this about CoD's dogs?

meh, i lost the little respect i had for PETA last year when they applaud the accidental death of several seal hunters when their boat sink while it was towed by the coast guards. i really wonder if the average WoW palyer really care about seal hunt in real life...

Oh I'm sorry. I was too busy killing dogs in COD to notice the seal killings.

My god, what is wrong with this picture? How do they know when this "Seal-Killing" will take place?

Part of me wonders if this is PETA getting their revenge for everyone who calls them stupid (well, they are), but I'm not sure.

I kinda doubt that 6.4 degrees will wipe out humanity. Perhaps many other species, but not humans. (It may wind up making food more scarce, but that's not quite the same.)

In COD: World At War if you get 7 consectutive kills you can summon dogs to attack people. The only way to stop said dogs is to kill them.

Nathan, would you object less if we only killed adult seals? Why is killing older seals any less-bad than killing the ones that are a few days old? That's the best time to get them - before they start eating fish.
No, seriously. I'm not trying to be offensive or shocking. It really is.

We won't be at the Poles, Lonan. Give it a few more years and the north pole will melt completely in the summer. There will be nowhere to stand. Did you hear about the ice bridge in the Antarctic melting? [http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5i8UbXlhH4rH43meX0BPAuF3r39AQ] The latest one, I mean. Once the ice starts sliding off of Greenland, we're screwed.

As for DHETA vs. PETA, I'd put my money on the side that can change into giant bears.

If they really want to get to gamers, they should shell out some money.
Pay game designers to include things in their games about respecting animals.

Of course, that's too rational...

PETArds are a bunch of crazy delusional hypocrits, so this doesn't surprise me at all. Hell, they made a version of "Cooking Mama" where whenever you cracked an egg blood and features poured out as well as making "Mama" better by making her cook a Tofurkey.

Add the trading cards they hand out to elementary schoolers and the "My Momma Kills Animals" comic books and you see how insane they are.

I see. So...what would PETA do when faced with attack dogs? Unless they have a really good answer for that, they shouldn't complain.

The hunting of those baby whitecoat seals was banned in 1987

It would set fire to the rainforests, burning them and releasing a huge amount of carbon dioxide into the air, it would release the HUGE amounts of METHANE (24 times as potent as CO2, I think) which is in the permafrost, resulting in huge additional warming. It's all a domino effect. That's why it's so important to act now. Even as we speak current warming is resulting in the natural release of more CO2. Here's the article I got that information from: http://www.int.iol.co.za/index.php?set_id=1&click_id=31&art_id=vn20070204092500226C199716
Also, keep in mind that it is people in the developing world who will suffer the most, which means that they could certainly be wiped out, as they will not be able to walk far enough north to escape the encroaching desert, when there's so many of them, and they all need food and water to walk

Believe me, this is the usual sort of stupidity that I've come to expect from PETA. A) I will reiterate what other posters have already said: World of Warcraft is a GAME, and if you reduced the whole thing down to its basic form, you wouldn't be able to distinguish the seals from your character or the world around you because there would nothing but a large cloud of 1s and 0s on the screen. B) I said this is the sort of stupidity that I've come to expect from PETA for 2 reasons: 1) A few years ago PETA ran an online ad campaign (I don't have any urls, but I'm sure you can still google it) that showed images of Holocaust victims on the left and images of animals being processed on the right (the animals, by that point in the process were already dead anyway, the Holocaust victims were still alive). PETA does not have the right to use what happened in the Holocaust to push their agenda forward, and you cannot even begin to compare what happens to DEAD animals in processing plants to what happened to LIVING HUMAN BEINGS during the Holocaust. 2) I recently uncovered evidence that suggests that of the animals that PETA takes in, they euthanize 2/3 of them, and they don't even try to deny it; instead they do whatever they can to rationalize their actions. So, in short, PETA has been and always will be full of shit.

this is actually very funny becuase I farm all my leather from the seal mobs out there since there's low competition for it. On another note why isn't peta angry at the fact I can land on the iceberg filled with baby pinguins and go on a killing spree?

Get ur priorities straight PETA, GAWD!
