Ok so the thread title pretty much sums it up but to elaborate a little further...

We have all had an ex in the past, be it an ex-boyfriend or an ex-girlfriend or maybe both at the same time if that's your thing. Now what I'm asking is out of these past ex's have any of them ever gone out of there way to do something petty and that you know they have done just to twist the knife a little?

The inspiration for this thread came form my ex-girlfriend. We split up a few months ago and i was a bit cut up but i got over it, you pick your self up and life carries on et al.
So as part of the standard breakup procedure i deleted her form my facebook friends as is only right and proper (she didn't see it like like that. She was, confusingly, a bit upset by it).

Now cut to a few weeks later and we are sort of talking again as friends and by that i mean friends who still have a lot feelings for each other but that probably wont get back together.
So back she went on my facebook (she re-added me). That was fine and good as we never spoke on it and i only use it to see what's happening with my friends. She knows i do check it though. Now the main reason we broke up was that she was not too well (I wont say what it was...a gentleman never tells and all that) and she broke up with me because of this, and she didn't feel like i deserved it (whatever that means), she said that she didn't want to be with anyone.

So imagine my dismay to log on today to see a status update saying she is now in a relationship, and to have it on my new's feed that SHE asked him to be her valentine. She knew i would see that...What a *****!

So am i the only one something like this has ever happened to? Do you have any stories of similarly cruel ex's?

P.S.
I know this is a stupid little thing, i really do know i should not be upset by this...but damn it it's got to me a lot more than it should have done.

*No offense to anyone who has not had an ex intended. If you have been offended then we apologies for the inconvenience. [sub]Cookie for the reference.[/sub]

Actually, tons of people on this site have never had Exes. Also, I don't think your ex was purposelly trying to get at you but instead just asking a guy out over facebook.

OT: Never had an ex do something mean to me. Have had one ex and there's no bad blood between us.

My bad, i guess i tend to forget what type of age demographic this place has.

Yes she was, we were going out for about a year, and i know her MO. She did it like that on purpose.

Since I haven't actually talked to my ex since we broke up (well, maybe twice. But both times were so awkward they barely rate the idea that we talked), neither of us have really had the opportunity to do anything petty. I know she went into the 'say bad things about me behind my back' phase for a while, but that's kind of expected, I guess.

Age has nothing to do with it. a lot of people on this site are towards the introverted/outcast demographic. Heck I'm 21 and never had an ex, nothing really wrong with me, I'm just really shy and inexperienced on how to ask someone out.

Me and my ex broke up a year and half ago and he still isn't over me, insisting I give him his DVD back. Apparently I have his PS3 too. I paid for it myself, so I don't know how he came to that conclusion. Oh well, that's retards for you.

That's the worst break up of your life? Thats not TOO bad.

Try having you gf of 10 months go on vacation, than receiving a myspace email from her husband saying they got married on your birthday, please leave her alone. And she has your TV, XBox 360, and Wii, and the greater part of 2000 dollars in movies and games (Which I got back, thank god).

Back to the original topic... there are plenty of good break ups. They just don't happen to people in seriously committed relationships.

EDIT: Oh, and imagine that all of the above happened AFTER you'd changed the place you were moving to to match your gfs place of living. And you both work in the same building in that place.

Speaking of "subtle" attacks on a persons psyche... "We have all had an ex in the past" on The Escapist? Pretty petty attack.

I'd suggest the OP edit out the whole "Everyone has had an EX" Considering it IS valentines day, a lot of people aren't going to take that comment personally.

My exwife, we had 3 cats. One hers one my daughter's and one mine she got me for a present.

Get a divorce, she kept him inside for 6 months. Weekend I go to get him, she says he's gone, and gives me my daughters kitten who was mauled by a dog.

So basically she killed two of the family pets threw them outside where one was basically never seen again and her own daughters kitten nearly lost a leg.

And that was one of the more tolerable things she did...gets far worse.

The only time any of my ex's have ever did something that pissed me off was when she dated one of my best friends. But turns out he cheated on her, so I guess karmas a *****, thought I am pissed at my friend cause thats..just a dick move.. Oddly enough we're still good friends, as I am with all my other exes.

I've only had one ex-girlfriend considering my relationships are all very lengthy. I've never had her do anything to get at me before since we broke up and then never spoke again. I don't really think there's much she could really do anyway.

Sending me random texts saying how much she hates me and how I will burn in hell because I'm such a horrible person. Then sometimes she'll text me quoting poetry on how much she hates me, and one time she tried to give my computer a virus via Facebook. Two things you little *****, 1. don't try to send a virus over Facebook 2. If you want to give my computer a virus, don't tell me that you're going to give me a virus.

... Are you mental? 1) How is defriending standard procedure? I know I'm not a man of experience in these matters but come on. 2) How is her trying to make up with you (as you effectively said "we aren't even aquaintances any more" by defriending her) by adding you on facebook and then later (GOD FORBID) having a relationship ages after you broke up a DIRECT attack at you and making her "a *****"?

Seriously, this comes across all wrong to me. I mean Jesus, you are taking this stupidly personally, especially the fact that she got a boyfriend and put it on facebook. This just seems all bizarrely irrational... and only women are meant to be irrational!

At the time she broke up with me I had a blog that only my close friends knew about. I ranted about how much the breakup sucked (and so a degree how much she sucked) and one of my friends printed out gave it to her. And he gave me, I kid you not, a printout of the rant with "corrections" about where I was wrong about what happened. My friends still don't understand what I hate about her.

eh, I had a girl go through my group of friends, three of us at least. We all occasionally drive past her house on the way to somewhere and we all joke we're going to break into her house and shit in her sink, just for the lol's. Not that we'd ever do that.

But anyway, that's a petty thing I do against my exes.

So I turned your topic kinda' on its head?

I guess I'll go into what my ex's do.

One girl I know talks to the next guy she's going to date about breaking up with current BF. That's kinda' not cool but that's basically all they've ever done.

Though one status read, "broke up with him and now (friend) and (friend) are coming over to make me feel better" then the next morning, "Great night, thanks girls!" So it's kinda' cool that I at least date girls who have emotional safety nets up for when shit hits the fan.

I haven't been that unfortunate with girls being mean about it.

If that's all it is then all i can say is i am quite shy my self, i find though that pretending to be brave..and then doing it tends to have pleasant results. just take a breath and calm down and for gods sake remember the Guide.

If you took offense at what i said then i apologize.

Holy shit man that's appalling. Your edit is quite true as well, I didn't say it was my worst brake up ever though.

As a bloke who is apposed to needles cruelty to animals all i can say is fuck...really!? :-O

If that was one of the tolerable ones then i'm morbidly curious as to how deep the rabbit hole goes, but i think i can say that you are most defiantly worth rid of her mate.

What I posted was a quote from a long dead thread in the same type as this one.

I did not mean for it to specifically target you.

And believe me... the long story is MUCH worse than the short version I posted. Didn't feel like typing it all out.

EDIT:

Like how she flaunts her husband around me, or had the audacity of throwing gifts I gave her back in my face (But the money I gave her for storage, well, that she'll keep).

I got her back though. She eventually had to move to another unit because of me. I gave her an open box in front of her entire team one day with a note that told her I wished her no ill will. The box was filled with...

Bondage gear we used.

Needless to say, people started to ask why some stranger just gave a married lady bondage gear. Add that with some friends who moved into her unit (I never instructed them to tell her bosses about her behavior, and in fact asked them not to), and some strange coincidences (A mutual friend who became friends with only me visited his boss frequently. Coincidentally, his boss was my ex's neighbor. She got the wrong idea and got paranoid and freaked out, it seems).

And then, of course, she lost custody of her kids. LOL, *****.
