Petty reasons for the "M" rating

I'll put it this way kids, some people see kids having fun and just have to put an stop to it. Usually this is some old fart who whouldn't know fun if it bit them in the ass.

Reading through the previous posts...
I really think a better way to classify games that have these elements (sex, drugs, violence) is to look at how each of these elements is actually presented, rather than whether or not they are actually present.

ah, fair enough. The statement just seemed a little contradictory is all My collection is probably mostly M and E, oddly enough. I tend to like shooters and RPGs (mostly Ms) and sports/arcade racing games (mostly Es) plus the occasional platformer. I'd really have to look through it to see, though (and I'm at work now so no can do)

I remember they re-rated the PC version of Halo 2 to contain "partial nudity" because of Cortana.

I also remember Oblivion was rated from "T" to "M" because of some modders making nude body replacers and because of that one part in the Dark Brotherhood questline.

People are just freaking way the fuck out right now over a threat that isn't real.

Hopefully it will pass.

I heard they bumped up the console rating even though it couldn't really be modded.

Yeah, they didn't want anyone to feel left out, so changed the rating for everyone.

that wasn't the only reason why oblivion was re-rated.

They intentionally gave the ESRB dark photographs depicting the more gruesome body layouts (like corpses hung from the cieling etc).

Really?

I knew one of the reasons was over the corpses, but I assumed it was that one Dark Brotherhood moment since I saw it referenced the most.

Considering that they can show damn near anything on TV, such as CSI shows, with only.. "Viewer Discretion Advised".. (right, because parents are going to rush to provide discretion for their child).. and games are forced to do this, is absurd.
