"If the man's a dumbass, kick him in the dick. If the man's a dick, kick him in the ass."

When I asked what this meant, the reply was "In the first case, he shouldn't be having kids, and in the second case, he should get a good ass kicking." I thought it was pretty valid =D

"You should have friends everywhere, even in hell"
-my granfather's life motto. He lived in government housing in spain he came up from nothing during the spanish civil war, and was childhood friends with the owner of one of the futbol clubs in Sevilla (Real Betis BTW) so he got free midfield tickets for any game. Just goes to show that it's not what you know, but who you know.

and one I came up with in the library at school:
"Hot chicks never have cute friends"

I like this thread. I think mine would definitely have to be one of my favorite quotes ever, but just so happens to be from a great movie "The Count of Monte Cristo." And it goes a little something...like this...

"Life is a storm, my young friend. You will bask in the sunlight one moment, and be shattered on the rocks the next. What makes you a man is what you do when that storm comes. You must look into that storm and shout as you did in Rome: Do your worst, for I will do mine!"

Before I go to sleep: "I'll do better tomorrow." (It's actually optimistic, not depressing)

I mind was broken a long time ago when I tried to find a rational AND humane view of life. There is no such thing. In order to find purpose, meaning, or value in life, one must abandon logic and reason and take a leap of faith. Since I am incapable of self-deception, I cannot take refuge in faith. Existence seems to be the only thing with inherent value, but the existence of living things are in constant conflict with each other.

"Nothing is true. Everything is permitted." is a good way to describe my view of the world. This does not mean that I am indifferent. I have my own modus operandi, but it is much too complex and broad to relate in a meaningful way.

However, some eastern philosophies, like Zen and Taoism have many things in common with my own MO.

This is about it for me too, but with added strains of "This shit ain't right, man."

You know, before I concentrated I thought I eas reading that 1984 "War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorance is Strength" line. Which is a funny motto to live by.
As for your motto it makes sense and its pithy so I don't think it's rubbish.

"how can you drink of my tea if you first do not empty your cup" - Lee Jun Fan (Bruce Lee)

"be like water my friend" - Lee Jun Fan

he didn't originally say either one but he was the most famous person most westerners attribute to him

both quotes are about keeping an open mind about everything in life and adjusting to what comes

I don't have an easy to sum up nutshell version with a cool quote life philosophy.
The closest I guess would be:

Think first.
Take accountability for yourself.
See all sides of a situation.

I try my best to remember those things at all times.

If something created this universe, it wasn't a domineering father who wants to tell you what to do or a nurturing mother who wants to keep you safe. It was a capricious child who wants to play.

If you have to pick sides, first ask yourself two questions.

1) Who's going to win?
2) Will I get sex out of this?

Ignore people and you will see the light. Maybe.

"Do you see the cup as half empty or half full? -Doesn't matter, it's too hot!" (Splash) "Aaaaaug!"
