The Spiders in Boulders Gate on the gamecube were unusually well designed, Resembling ACTUAL spiders...Very difficult kill when your crapping your pants...i hate spiders[/I]

Also i hate anything that screams, Like a blood curdling woman scream. It chills me to the core.

And then just general survival instincts kick in to stop me from falling, drowning etc.

Good thread.

I hate broken glass freakout moments otherwise known as 'jumpout scares'.
They still get me, even in games.
I think it's worse in games. Whatever jumps out of the floor isn't going for some random, scripted character, it's coming for YOU!

I was too scared to play Metroid Prime for a couple of days after my first encounter with a Metroid.
Damm those things are fucking scary.

I actually get really scared when I encounter weird bugs or when some things seem awfully uncanny. Like for example in Star Wars JK:JA there was a mission on a dune planet where giant worms came out of t he grounds suddenly if you walked through the sand too much and the way I could see the worms' body clip through the ground sometimes really creeped me out. I actually stopped playing then. Thankfully I could skip that level the next time around.

That's just one thing.

I close every door I open in any game, my dad kinda hammered that rule into me. Apperantly so much I even do it in virtual worlds.

I am only phobic of bees, and since I am a sadist I enjoy watching people get hurt by my phobia. So no my phobia doesn't. However my paranoia does.
Hell my phobia barely changes real life as i rationalize everything.

Well there are two: Creepy sounds and scenes from scary games and needles going into my character. It makes me feel disgusting and makes me do it less even if it's good for the character.

Vertigo comes up once in awhile. I don't really haven't a fear of heights, I just have a fear of the sudden stop at the bottom. A few games have given me that strange feeling of vertigo though, like when you look down a 1000 foot cliff. The one that comes to mind is IGI. I jumped off a mountain top, and it took me about 2.5 seconds to hit the ground, and oddly enough it made my stomach feel ill.

IGI?

OT: Helplessness; Lack of control
Whenever I'm in a body of water or any other vulnerable point in a game (ie. can't see the enemies) I just shit myself and run around mashing buttons.

I absolutely hate spiders/crabs anything that looks that sinister cant be good :) I mean they look as though they want to kill you in some horrible fashion.....

Needless to say headcrabs in half life/ half life 2 were a big problem for me and any other game that makes spider/crab like creatures jump out at you in the dark.... :)

The spiders in Morrowind (the partly mechanical ones in the Dwemer ruins) scare the bejesus out of me. I guess my arachnophobia in real life affects me no matter if it's in a video game or not. Same goes for spiderwebs.

Project: IGI (I'm Going In) Cheesy, but a good game.

Screenshot should give a good sense of the terrain. Back in 2000 the terrain was an amazing feat. They used a revamped flight simulator engine to create an FPS, first FPS I've played where I could walk for 30 minutes and still not hit the end of the map. The fact that you could shoot through wood and doors was a bonus.

Water that's murkier than mud, I hate not knowing when some sort of super-powered amphibious creature is gonna ram it's webbed hand into my face, or any other part of my characters anatomy.

Also hate swimming in games in general, especially in close-quarters areas, such as the broken off section of Rivet City in Fallout 3, reflecting my limited water phobia, and claustrophobia.

Nope, not really. I only have the fear of rejection, and that almost never happens in a game.

... I feel sad for even making that joke.
