Sharks. not kidding. I HATE sharks soo much. When I first played Banjo-Kazooie (before Microsoft went taboo and made the graphics all bad) on the beach level you had to rescue a...Sock-puppet looking thing, when the shark came I'd totally freaked out. Seriously, happening when I was 7, I paniced, died then locked the game away for a year. Somehow I think that game is the very reason for my fear of sharks...

I used to have a fear of the dark when I was a kid, prompting me to ask someone else to play the Shadow temple in OoT for me.

In Half Life 2 I hate going into the water because I am scared that those sea monsters in half life 1 will somehow show up.

I have a phobia of getting trapped or ambushed in free-roaming games, causing me to save, often.

My real phobia doesn't cross over into games (arachniphobia), since I've yet to see a game make a realistic spider.

I as massive arachnophobia. As I've said too much on these boards.

Half Life 2 headcrabs scared me for abit, but got over that. That's the only game I've been able to overcome it to play, and that's only because they weren't actually spiders.

Couldn't play Doom3/Resident Evil/Pendurmlim. I'm sure there are more I've forgotten about.

Something that bothered me in a game was the spider (zephonim?) vampires in Soul Reaver - those fuckers made horrible noises and always sneaked up on me. First time I bought the game I had to take it back to the shop because I was too scared to play it.

Re-bought it about ten years later, and managed to finish it though. ^-^

I'm afraid of my character drowning especially in the old Sonics when the freaky music played.
You mean THIS?:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TOkKttTkpo

This gets my heart beat up and I hum it when I need to do something quick.
That music STILL scares the hell outta me. I hate it so much.

Water enemies. Tomb Raider I would jump in the water and exit to draw out the gators/sharks and would only go in when they are all dead. Hated not being able to really fight back or even keep track of the bastards.
Even the shark in Kingdom Hearts gives me the creeps.
I completely agree with you there, in Resistance 2 near the beginning i made a mistake of jumping in the water in that flooded corridor not realising there were monsters in it. well, scared the s**t out of me!

Sharks freak me out too. I could never do this one level in Indianna Jones and the Infernal Machine (obscure game I know) because you had ti fight sharks with a knife. It was terrifying!

Also, I'm scared if zombies... I know they aren't technically real, and I don't get that scared by some of the "scary" films like Dawn if the Dead (actually more scared by Shaun of the Dead than that), but if I'm fighting them in a game I just freak out completely, especially if I'm surprised. This is one of my reasons for not buying Left 4 Dead, since I know no one would want someone like that on their team!

I'm deathly afraid of the ocean...any ocean in a video game even if they are perfectly safe will get me shaking. i.e., the beach level in Banjo Kazooie with Snacker usually makes me quit because I would rather deal with 10 inch spiders than swim around in that stage with that shark.

Edit: So basically just what Ziadaine just said.

No phobias really, but i have an OCDish thing where i have to thoroughly explore each room in a game before moving on. I manage to keep good pace though, and i don't use weapons that much (or at all) that i think ammo's hard to find, even if i have ludicrous amounts.
So on Fallout 3 i made it to level 20 quickstep switching between The Terrible Shotgun, Protrectron's Gaze & Sydney's "Ultra" SMG, while leaving things like Miniguns, Missile Launchers and Flamers left in my inventory untouched with unthinkable amounts of ammo haha.

I can't stand when dolls come to life. That is the only thing that really gives me the creeps in a game. Pyramid-head rape? No problem. A two foot tall doll wielding a knife running at me? Run like hell!
You must have really hated Devil May Cry 1 then.

Videogames were the only real way my phobia for undead (especially zombies) could show itself. I used to avoid any game that involved zombies around the age of 11. I even remember I stopped playing Excalibur because of zombies in level 2.

Wallmasters in OoT during the forest temple. Since you are barely prepared it gets tense fast. Though I have recently gotten over that fear of Wallmasters. (2 years ago)

The idea of being surrounded by a mob of enemies all at once always scared me in games. It was an especially big problem in Resi 4, and is why to this day I don't play The Mercenaries, because I just get into a corner where they can only come at me from 1 direction, and run out of time...The mere sight of the double-chainsaw guy on the waterworld map makes my pulse triple 0_o speaking of which, why wasn't he in the main game? Would have made an awesome boss fight...

Sharks and other similar creatures, like Icthyosauruses in Half-Life. What, the game says I should jump to the water to kill it? Eat C4!
