Well done everybody. Your skills will be used for crafting the most influential Escapist propaganda for the upcoming website wars.

Good job.

Oops, I said before that Richard Groovypants made Mario Shock, my mistake and I apologize. Great job on it and congratulations on first place, it is well deserved.

What do you use for shadow effects and lighting? The effects in your piece look amazing.

I actually didn't have to do much for lighting besides changing the brightness, contrast and saturation of the characters. After that, I just gave them a once over with a few burns/dodges til it looked alright. The shadows are just duplicate layers flipped vertically, then darkened to black, blurred, and made semi-transparent.

Everyone who participated, even those who didn't win, thank you. Brilliant contest. I hope this becomes a yearly thing.

You deserved it. Seriously, what's your secret?

Oh, and thanks for the Christmas Avatar, by the way.

So not what I would've picked, but congratulations to the winners anyway.

Congrats to the winners.

I was the creator of Goomba in VATS and Pinata Space if anyone cares. I'm gonna go to a corner and cry now.

Mario Shock is awesome! The fireball from Mario's hand is pretty sick. I wish I had your creative genius. And a copy of Adobe. haha. Now that I'm thinking about it, a T- or M-rated Mario game in the first-person would be sweet! Perhaps what we have here are the initial stages of a new concept for Nintendo...?

You make it sound so easy...
