I'm picking my A levels for sixth form, and i'm wondering what is better for me to choose. Maths? or physics?

I'm taking Biology and chemistry definately and while i could do both maths and physics, i don't want it to be too stressful and in the end effect my results.
(e.g. getting 4 B's instead of 3 A's)

I thought i could ask the opinion of the escapist because i thought you might know a bit more about it.

I'm asipiring to be a doctor in my later years. I haven't picked a univerisity (so any thoughts on that would be appreciated) but i know i would need about 3 A's to get to most universities.

Also just to make it a bit harder, i didn't take physics for GCSE so i haven't learnt any of it, and i got an A in maths. But the maths department at the school i want to go to is not exceedingly good,so that is also a negative.
If you're on AQA Physics, don't take it it's awful, but maths isn't good either XD

And if you want to be a Doctor get medical work experience FAST. It's getting even more competitive and you won't get into a medical course without it. And work your arse off. :D

EDIT: A good uni for Medicine would be Manchester, very fucking hard to get in there though.

Physics is fairly easy until they start getting into the mindscrew of quantum physics. Then, it takes some adjusting. Really, since you have the mathematical background you should do just fine.
I found all of it hard except the Quantum bit, I thought it was easy :p

Fucking hated the rest of it though, it was impossible D:

Physics, tbh...

Taking math seems kind of pointless, why should you learn a crap ton of maths if you cant apply them to real life situations? Unless you want to be a math teacher ;)

I don't think its AQA Physics, but the course sounded quite interesting.

I've decided to do physics and maths and drop the one (if it becomes too hard) that is less useful.

I already work in a pharmacy for a saturday job, but i'm gonna get lots of work experience over these next two years. I'm gonna need it.

I will think about manchester, a bit far from where i live, but i will think about it.

Thanks everyone.

I also have 2 good friends that did a degree in physics. The first thing they were told was "Right, everything you were told at A-Level is pretty much a lie".

Of course they needed the Physics A-Level to do the degree, its just quite amusing that it was simplified to the extent it was pretty much useless.
looking back, the same applies to A level looking down on GCSE

OT: if you're planning on being a Dr, you need both really, unless you plan on going to a second or third rate uni
Sorry what? I know for a fact you can get into the 5th or it might be 6th best University in the world with Chem/Bio and one of maths/physics and one other. I would hardly call that second or third rate so overall it doesn't really matter which he chooses.

http://www.professional-cv-writings...y-ranking/uk-university-ranking-medicine.html I know that's UK rankings but Cambridge and Oxford are amongst the best uni's anywhere and i think they are actually 5 and 6th in the world and both of them do not require all three sciences and maths actually they prefer having an art subject to show variety so overall its better NOT to do both maths and physics (as Bio and Chem are required)

OT: I would do maths as you have already done it for GCSE

Do them all, drop either physics or maths when you feel that either is no longer useful. Thats what I did. Or even see if you want to do physics, whether they'll let you sit in on the Mechanics maths classes to help get the idea.

He clearly stated he was going into Sixth Form.
No he did not.

He said,

Which could mean he is in year 13 and choosing to retake a year.

So no, it was not clear. It was ambiguous.
Oh i'm sorry i thought that it didn't matter.

Anyway i'm going into year 12.

I didn't think it would make a difference

Good choice lol, and the work experience they value most seems to be things like voluntary work in care homes etc. And if you end up not being able to get the grades, you can do degrees such as Biomedical Science then do a graduate Medicine degree afterwards (I'm doing that xD) Good luck.
