Not the only song of his, nor the best piano piece, but my favorite and a great song writer.

This ^ Tim Minchin is a genius.

Personally, if we're talking 'traditional' piano pieces, I love Chopin's work.

Heh funny i developed the exact same interest not too long ago.

A lot of great songs can be learned right on good ol youtube actually, just search for the name and add "tutorial" or "synthesia". Or alternatively just DL synthesia. It's a little like guitar hero as it shows you what keys to hit. The free version has loads of classics and you can add any song as long as it's a .midi. If you have a keyboard you can also get the full version (25 bucks tho) and than it will stop until you hit the right key wich makes it much easier to learn.

As for songs, idunno if you like tf2 but I liked the spy's theme and it turned out it's not that hard: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9u52bZVBdw

Also it turns out a lot of great techno songs are pretty easy too. Hell insomnia can be played on a cellphone if it has at least 4 different beepsounds. But again you'll need a keyboard with lots of effects if you want it to sound exactly like the real song:

My favorite piano man would have to be Tom Waits. Look for his older stuff (pre 80s) as that's when he did the most on the piano. However, my favorite work of his was done in the 80s.

I would also like to recommend Dan O'Connor (a little obscure), Phil Collins, and Madness.

All the classics are good and all, but if you're just starting out it might not be a bad idea to start with Yann Tiersen; famous of the "Amelie" soundtrack, he plays light classical music which is both good to listen too and not too hard too learn. I play it to get my fingers warm.

Pretty much anything Victor Borge did, that man is not only amazing, but hilarious.

But as for favorite, I have quite a few but this is one of them, I know it's not just piano, but it's still damn amazing.

well, if we're going to bring the marvelous Mr Minchin into this, i feel the need to say that, imo, the Youtube Lament is his greatest success, musically if not lyrically or comedically (is that a word?).

and aside from that, Debussy is fuckin' awesome, and I've seen a lot of his pieces simplified for beginners, if that sort of thing interests you :)

Not traditional piano music, but damn impressive regardless.
On a more serious note, these are a couple of my favorite piano songs:
