As i'm only choosey about my first person shooters (must have no trace of the words "Call" or "Duty" in them), it took me months of searching, until i finally purchased Battlefield Bad Company 1, this filled the niche of a non-call of duty franchise modern warfare FPS with good online play.
Also, i immediately lose faith in RPGs when every character has a brain haemorrhagingly bad british accent.
Not forgetting how third person perspective games that dont allow camera control with the right stick make me want to puke.

With these hateful developer mistakes in mind, i was wondering if anybody else had other uncommon nit-picks about games?

I won't play any game made into an Uwe Boll film. If I already have the game and realize a movie is forthcoming I will trade it in.

Uwe Boll does not rock.

I really, really hate turn-based combat games. I love around every aspect of an RPG, but if you mention it has turn-based combat I won't even consider getting the game.

1. Games without an at least decent plot.
2. Action/adventure or roleplaying games that don't have enough sidequests.

You are missing out on some excellent RPGs, then.

That seems to be happening to EVERYTHING these days, not just RPGs. Games, movies, everything that has voices.

OT: I don't really like anything other than fantasy-themed games or games from a series that I already like (Metroid, Zelda, and Pokemon, though the last one is getting kinda iffy now...). It takes some pressuring to get me to try other games, which happened with MW2 and Gears of War 2.

I'm a balance freak. A game could have countless flaws but if the gameplay is perfectly balanced I might not care.

I hear you, good example: The Saboteur - It is awesome, though the game has some continuity errors and part of me wants to believe that its just a rejected assassins creed plot, but any doubts i have are diminished whenever i suplex a nazi off a watchtower. And hey, its a world war 2 game where you DON'T play as a generic american soldier who single handedly wins the war, so at least it's story is original.

Framerate. I am a console gamer. When I get a game for my console specifically built to play that disc I should not see framerate problems. I don't care about the excuses (oh it so big, there is so much going on blah blah blah). That is a huge turn off no matter how epic the game would be.

It has to have something in it that I have never experienced before or failing that something that is done in a different way to usual. That's why I liked conviction and Second Sight among other games. I like the new. Not exactly a unique prerequisite but a good one.

Oh one other thing not being able to configure controls in certain games like Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 or other beat em up type games. Especially if I am playing 2 different ones in the same timeframe. Where in 1 game X = throw and the next game X = punch and B is throw. There should be either a standard button for every function in a genre (like R trigger = shoot in almost every FPS on the 360) or a way to configure the controls to us. I am tired of retraining my brain for every game. And I really hate sucking during that process.
