So I accidentally nicked myself with a cheese grater by too enthusiastically rubbing a carrot on it, and there's now a hole in my pinky about the size of one piece of short-grained rice (maybe a bit bigger, about 2x3 mm). I immediately put it under running water and taped gauze to it, but it bleeds whenever I rip the gauze off. Pain in the rear, it is.

So, escapist, what were your worst idiot accidents?

Something similar, put my hand on a [lit] woodburner to pick up a Wiggly Worm. Massive burns on my hand for ages.

The in the hospital getting it checked out I fell down a bunch of steps and split my lip open.
I was 5 and silly.

This...is exactly what happened to me not a week back, but I was doing it with cheese. Luckily the piece that got cut off didn't fully got seperated, so I stuck it back with tape (medicinal, mind). It's growing back rather nicely now, took two days for it to stop bleeding though.

Well not to long ago I was sitting in my car waiting for my mom to finish buying some stuff, I had chosen to stay in the car which I had been sitting in for about half and hour. At that time I began to get really really bored and when I get bored I become very very stupid. Long story short I got stupid and burned my finger on the cigarette lighter thingy in the car. God damn did that hurt.

(Not the worst but while we're talking about fingers...)

Got my pinky slammed in a door which cut off the tip of it.

Managed to get to the hospital fast enough to re-attach it.

Rode on the side skirts of a go-kart on a farm. Driver hit a bump, ended up underneath it with a severe sprain.

Picked a fight with a kangaroo when I was younger.
Not really, but I was at a deer farm (one of those ones you can drive though) and there was an enclosure where you could get out and pet the kangaroos. Anyway, one decided to swipe my face. 10 years ago and I still have a scar down the left side.

Playing clowns on the couch, fell and banged the edge of my eye on a glass coffee table. Split my eyelid open, scar there too and it was on the left side as well.

More recently, was welding pipes in a fridge with a co-worker. I was holding a stubborn pipe in place with multi grips, he had oxy set and solder stick. When he finished, he accidently brushed my hand with the hot tip, i jerked, the hot weld snapped and oil from inside the pipe splashed onto my arm resulting in a nasty burn about 10x5cm

When I was younger and my ADHD-addled mind made my imagination more... physical, I smashed carefully manoeuvred my hand into my bed post, and from the middle up of my middle finger went about 30 degrees to the left. Pro tip: Don't sprint around in a 3 metre long room.

I can't think of any injuries to myself as of late (I just get a lot of bruises from knocking into stuff), but my dad recently cut his thumb badly. He works with sheet metal, and a couple weeks ago he was pulling a sheet off of a stack above him when it slipped and cut his thumb wide open. He knew it was very deep, so he went to the emergency room, where they had him wait for like two hours because they wrapped him up when he got there and the other nurses didn't realize how bad his cut was until he unwrapped it and showed them.

He ended up getting six stitches along his thumb joint, and the doctor says he didn't do any permanent damage to the tended--though it was close. But now we're thinking there could be nerve damage because the end of his thumb and some parts along the side feel tingly and numb. So at this point we're just hoping the nerve damage heals itself, because otherwise he now has a permanently numb thumb.

So, few weeks ago, I was hiking with some friends.

We went through a dense forest, a clearing with the hot sun beating down on us, a tunnel half made of thorns, and a swamp where we needed to go from foot hold to foot hold or else we'd sink.

We finally make it out of all that and to a normal path.

... And then my dumbass friend steps on a rather large stick causing it to angle up and give me a gash on my leg that bled for an hour.

Oh... my friends. XD

Almost the same (When I get bored in a car waiting I usually screw around with that , see how long it takes to heat up. Which is why I now bring a handheld with me, to stop me from being stupid)

But my worst incident was at my last job as a manager at a grocery store, I was receiving a truck of stock and was helping the driver undo the latches to open the trailer doors and since the truck was filled way to full there was a lot of pressure against the door so the handle came out of the latch and smacked me right on my upper lip, almost cutting through the entire lip and almost knocking out a tooth or two (they were wiggly), So i calmly asked a co-worker for a ride to the hospital while trying not to get blood on my brand new spiffy white work shirt :p

Oh and I had to wait 3-4 hours to get the 4 stitches I needed, hell I was the first one there and I think 6 people that came long after me were all taken first

I am mortified of cheese graters. Pre-grated-cheese for me from now on!

Oh, work related incidents, I remember now.

I've still got a nice scar from this, I was rushing to get out of work when I was working as a seafood clerk. The water from the ice table combined with well waxed floors made a slippery surface. My sleeves were rolled up, so my arm landed on one of those thin barriers they put up to prevent your grandmother from ramming corners and getting hurt. It almost went to the bone, but I negated the hospital visit. It took two weeks to heal up enough for me to take the bandage off safely in my eyes, but I'm not trained medical personnel.

Something VERY similar. Only I was more stupid.

I was very young, and a rebellious little shit.
The stove cooking stove had an element that was very hot (red hot) after my parents had boiled some water for tea. I stood looking at it (Because, come on: It's glowing red), and my mom said 'Don't touch that! It's very hot!' I just looked at her, looked back at the red-hot element, and slapped my hand down on it.

I had to play with my burned, swollen hand behind my back for weeks.

Helped me learn a real lesson about listening to my parents, though!

My left hand has been shut in a car's front door, and a van's sliding door. Gotta love my parents closing the door before I get out of the car/van. I have next to no feeling in my left hand.

I also got my arm caught in a revolving door. We were visiting a hospital, and my brothers were being stupid and ran into the revolving door, just as it was about to close. I thought I would do the same, and got my arm caught, and pulled through the door by my arm. I still got the mark from that.

And when my Dad was cooking something on the stove, he told me "Don't touch it, it's hot" after he had turned it off, and he walked away. (Hint: Don't tell small kids NOT to do something, and walk away), I then put my hand on each burner one by one, until I burnt my hand pretty badly.

EDIT: Glad I'm not the only one whose done this. Though the heating element on the stove wasn't glowing red when I put my hand on it.

Note: I was only about 6 or so years old when these happened, since I remember my dad being there for all of them, and my parents divorced when I was 8 or 9

Cutting a bread roll with one of those serrated bread knives. I was holding the under-side of the roll and cutting downwards. I sliced open the bit of skin between my thumb and my index finger, it bled continuously for about an hour and the scar stayed for 2 months.

Not paying attention with a modelling blade and cut a inch and half long, 1cm deep into my little finger about 5 years back. Bandaged it up and taped it to my other finger. Has healed nicely though.

When I was 10ish I cooked a pizza on my own for the first time...and decided to take it out of the oven with my bare hands (I was afraid I would drop it if i used a towel).

from 3-4 I broke my right arm by running through the kitchen, slipping, and bashing it on a table. Then my left by stepping off a bed into a open drawer full of clothes. Then my right again when I was jumping off the couch and my cousin tripped me.

Then I tripped over a ball some1 threw across the school courtyard when I was in 5th grade, breaking my left again. That ones totally not my fault >.>

Climbed up my bedroom door frame one time, slipped and hit my head hard enough to tear the skin.

Not even joking, when I blinked reflexively, I saw stars.

I was messing with friends and fell on a milk bottle and gouged a chunk out of my knee. Another time i was playing "slate fight" with my friends.....it involved a group on a school roof and a group on the floor throwing slate at each other like deathstars. Really stupid. Almost severed my finger. But now i see that it was lucky non of us were killed.
