Man, there is quite a lot of hate towards the more visually artistic people.

"painfully unattractive" - tattoos and piercings are so unattractive they cause you pain?
"distractingly gross or strikingly trashy"
"Piercings make otherwise attractive people look much uglier."

Pretty harsh sounding stuff, here people!

Your friend might just be a wimp, I got that done, was my least painful one, even lobes hurt more than that, I say go for it.
B-but...all that cartilage. Surely going through something that stiff as opposed to a lobe would hurt more. D :

Then again, I know pain is very subjective. I may reconsider it in the future.
Also hello Elate. I think I remember you from the early days of the terraria forums. : ]

My brother once showed me a video of a woman having her labia cut off by her boyfriend. That's some hardcore modification!

I don't have anything, though. I'm boring :D
Your brother showed you that... that's, a little messed up I have to say.

Not that the video in itself doesn't sound messed up to begin with. I mean Christ! I knew that people do sometimes have their labia cut down (I've always thought it to be pointless and counter-productive even as far as cosmetic surgery goes, but I digress). Seriously though, If you're going to let someone take a scalpel to such a sensitive part of your body, let it be a fucking professional, not your boyfriend. I mean, I wouldn't just let my girlfriend circumcise me, especially if she wanted to film it. I'd run a mile at the very suggestion!
It'd probably be more comparable to having your ears cut off than your foreskin, pain wise. Labia can be thick and very full of tissue!
Oh Jesus now it sounds even worse!

I don't have any myself, nor do I plan to get any. But I think plenty of people can pull it off.

I no longer have any of my piercings. I removed them years ago so all I have now is my tattoo. Thinking about getting another one but I'm really, really lazy.

I don't and I won't ever get one. I don't seem the point in them and they seem like a waste of material albeit a small waste. I do not find them attractive nor do I find them repulsive for the most part. Any of the extreme ones that leave large holes or deformities if removed such as plugs are all equally ugly in my eyes.

I dont have an issue with them. Only those that go over board with piercings/tattoos etc on their face that makes them jobless. Tyson got a face tat because he can pull it off. Normal people look retarded with a face tat and it makes them jobless.

So, yeah do what ever you want to your body if you can pull an income with it. Dont be some arsehole that wants pac man on his forehead and live off benefits for your whole life.

I have two ear piercings on both sides, and I have my nostril pierced. I also have two tattoos, and I'm getting more when I can afford them.

I know a lot of people don't like them, but they don't change who I am. They're simply expressions of parts of me.

Myself;

No piercings, would never get any either. Purely because I think I'd look a complete tool as I don't think they'd improve my looks in any way and I have absolutely no interest in having shiny or coloured bits of plastic or metal poking out of me doing nothing. Ditto subdermal implants although I find these more interesting so would be slightly more likely to end up with one than a piercing.

Tattoos however... I have and quite large at that. Next up is my left 3/4 sleeve/shoulder, although there's a lass who's just arrived at my favourite studio who does some hand poking so I'm tempted to get my other leg sleeved too (one basically is already) or something down the side of my torso. Nothing on my hands, neck or face though. I would also consider mixing up a tattoo with scarification but not until the latter's techniques improve, allowing for more detail.

Other people;

I don't mind piercings, body mods or tattoos. It's your body and you can do as you wish. Some I obviously find more ascetically pleasing than others (depending on person and quality of workmanship/design). I'm glad that society on the whole is much more open to it all, at least in Europe but there's still some way to go.

I've had tattoos & body piercings for over 20 years ranging from a prince Albert to brow piercings. Contrary to what seems to be a popular misconception regarding how they affect one's viability for employment, in that time I've worked in various positions of responsibility & authority such as marketing executive & university lecturer.

I just have the regular ear lobe piercings. Anything more than that generally looks excessive to me but it can suit some people.

I do like the look of many tattoos but I wouldn't want one for myself- I can't really think of anything that I would still want on my skin when I'm old.

I don't like them, I don't see the point in them and I don't find them attractive. Piercings and tattoos are very unattractive to me, and I think they're dumb. I mean, why would you shove chunks of metal and ink into your body where they weren't intended?

The one exception is earlobe piercing. I grew up around people with pierced earlobes, so I'm kind of desensitized to them.

I have a tat on my back that I put a lot of thought in to, so I'm pleased with it and imagine I will be in the future. A bunch of friends decided to 'get our ink' in college, and only 2 of us went through with it.

Tattoos, I prefer moderation. The rockstars with their entire arms/chest/back tattood are too much. Women with that many are no longer attractive imo. It's too busy.

Piercings I'm not a fan of either, but if it's something you could take out and is subtle like a nose earring (don't know the terminology) that's okay. I'm not really on board with the nasal-bridge, eye brows, and I detest the belly-button piercings. It's never something simple, it's always like a string of rubys hanging down, looks like a hernia or something.

I don't have any piercings or tattoos. Both look pretty good on other people, I suppose, but I'm not sure they would on me. Might get a tattoo some day though, the 'oh, but it'll look terrible when you're older' argument has never made a lot of sense to me. I mean, I'm gonna look terrible when I'm older anyway, that's what old age does to you. So maybe I'll get a tattoo at some point, probably not piercings because I couldn't imagine them suiting me.

I have none presently, although I have considered piercing my ears in the past. Currently I'm not too interested in piercings though, I've found ear cuffs are more my thing.

As for tattoos? For years I've been debating getting one on my inner wrist, but I'm someone who loves and appreciates my body, even with all the imperfections, and I have a hard time seriously considering altering it permanently. :/ Really.. I kind of like the blue veins in my wrist, and as weird as that is, it's definitely hampered any forward momentum towards getting a tattoo.

Perhaps instead get it on the back of the neck. I have long hair, so it's easily covered, but it's still there when I want to display it.

I always get 'What are you going to do when you get older with them?'

And I reply 'Look at them and know that I lived'

Having said that I don't have many tat's just yet but I do plan on getting more when I get enough spare money.

I think they're a good way to express yourself without speaking, and they can give people an immediate insight into the kind of person you are. Although there is a line between expressionism and just plain stupid, ie, people who get religious tat's who are not themselves religious

I have both ears pierced and no tattoos.

I have wanted a tattoo in the past, but now I just can't think of a reason to bother. They're expensive, they can be prohibitive in attaining employment and they rarely actually look good on the person wearing them (even if the artwork itself is great).

As for me being attracted to them; I don't find any piercings or tattoos attractive. I do however find most non-'standard' piercings and most tattoos quite unattractive on women.

No I think piercings and tattoos are stupid. Some tattoos are okay if you don't overdo it. Same with piercings. Maybe my ears and that's it. The singer and bassist for the band Skillet are married and have ring tattoos instead of actual rings. I thought that was actually pretty cool. I wouldn't mind doing that if I got married.
Dude that means you are a werewolf! Just make sure never to get shot by a silver bullet .

OT: no don't have any peicing nor tattoos . I find them to be incredibly disgusting . Most are tasteless or stupid . In my opinion anyways . Only rarely do i see a tattoo and go WOW. Then again i have yet to see a person that looks better with a drawing on them . That shit is permanent , and i can't take an old person seriously if they have a tattoo .

As for peircing , apart from earing , i find them to be completly useless . Mostly worn by hipsters, i have never met a serious person with piercings elsewhere than their ears .

Not for me , and i don't wanna date/sleep with anyone that has them .
I don't get it.
