I don't mean to be insulting here, but it's not that complicated; people get piercings because they like the way it looks. "Without benefit?" Either you don't think looking good is a benefit, or you don't realize that some people consider piercings to be good-looking. That you don't find piercings appealing doesn't mean that nobody does. Maybe you don't realize it, but what you're writing is essentially that you can't understand how other people can like something you don't like, and if that's what you mean then I don't understand what there is to wonder about. You didn't ask why people would eat food you don't like or watch movies you don't like, since you understand that other people have other preferences. So why not just accept that this is the case with piercings as well?richardplex said:I've always been confused and somewhat disturbed why people get piercings; to me it seems like unnecessarily damaging your body without benefit, and they make me nauseous - I'm fine with stud ear piercings since I'm more used to seeing ear piercings and the injury can't be seen, but earrings, piercings on other parts the body, they make me unwell seeing them very quickly.
I'm not saying its stupid to get them or anything, I just don't see the logic, and am curious why people have them, and what people like about someone who has earrings.
