I don't like that top one, but there is something horrifyingly beautiful about corset piercings. I'd never have it done myself, though...

I like peircings, as long as it's well done and not overly done. The only kind I don't like would be bull rings. Click here [http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1352/1110475576_d401433dd8.jpg?v=0] if you don't know what they are.
I don't have any myself, just a tatto.

Plus like I said earlier, tongue piercings have a definite practical use too...

Ahgad, I was googling "unusual piercings", and came across this [http://media.photobucket.com/image/unusual%20piercings/tihami/zip.jpg]. I like piercings, but this, I just don't get.

if that's not a photoshop it would be a pain in the ass to keep clean and open, as soon as you zipped it up it would start closing up. tongue piercings are the only ones that if you remove them, they'll close up no matter how long you've had them

In light of me receiving my first piercing this week, I thought I'd commemorate the occasion with a thread about piercings.

I got the top (cartilage) of my left ear done, but I'm planning to get more. Next, I want one of those bars that goes across the top, through two holes (see here [http://z.about.com/d/tattoo/1/0/s/i/1/ear4.jpg]). Then, after that, I'll probably have something put lower down, in or near the lobe so my ear doesn't look too top heavy. I might get something in the other ear, too - but I haven't decided what yet. I'm also considering a lip piercing, too, eventually.

So, what piercings do you guys have? What made you decide to get them? Do you find a person with piercings more or less attractive?

Pics would be good, too. As long as its not, you know, a nipple ring or something >_<

hehe, my 8 year old got his first a few weeks ago and is wanting to gauge up already.

I have a few...numerous on both ears, the lower ones being 12 gauges, Have my belly done, and I had one on my " insert female reproductive organ here" which I removed and let close up

I traded in hardware for ink tough.

A friend of mine has ~3 inch gauges. I see no way that those will heal up without reconstructive ear surgery, if there even is such a thing. He pulls it off though, and he'd damn well better.

I don't like the idea of forcing a foreign object into a part of my body with the intention of creating a new hole.

I just have both my ears done. Nose rings are stupid, and I laugh every time I see a guy with a nose ring. Bellybutton is meh to me, hardly anyone can pull off a eyebrow ring. My girlfriend has her lip pierced on the side though...it suits her.

I have the standard ear lobe piercings and they used to be stretched to fit a 2 gauge but I let them shrink back to normal and now I don't usually wear earrings. I'm thinking of getting an industrial in my right ear, but I'll probably just save my money up for some ink.

Get ink. Its more fun!
This. I love my tattoo :)
Yeah, you love your tat till your 85 and it looks more like Texas :D
just joking, but for real, I'm always going to keep a "clean" body (devoid of tats or piercings) I'd just end up regretting it later. But what is your tattoo of?
That's what everyone says. If I regret it in the distant future, so be it, I'll enjoy it 'til then :)

It's a tribal-style armband on my upper-left arm. It's hard to explain, since there are many other similarly-styled ones.
By the way, I wasn't insulting you, I like tats, I was just saying, not for myself. And your tattoo seams cool. Idk what kind of tattoo I would have if I got one...

I like tattoos. I don't imagine I'd ever get one, but if I did, it would probably be something tribal, on the small of my back...

I didn't think you were. I don't really even get offended if people insult it; I don't have it for approval, I have it because I personally like it.

I've seen very practical tattoos. I've seen one that was a written request to not be put on life support if brain-dead. It was complete with signatures from four witnesses.

My old science teacher had something similar done, except it was to inform doctors that all his organs were on the wrong side of his body. Like if he ever had appendicitis or something, they wouldn't cut the wrong side...

That's strange that all his organs were on the wrong side of his body.

It's a pretty rare condition, called "situs invertus". I don't know what causes it, but it usually isn't a problem, unless doctors go incising the wrong place :p

An update on my scaffold piercing (if anyone actually cares...):

I went to the place, but the piercing guy (piercer? piercist?) says the helix (curvy bit) of my ear is the wrong shape. It's too flat (story of my life), so he can't put the bar through without making my ear bend round, which would make it heal poorly, and scar. So I can't have it done.

I'm trying to come up with an alternative, involving a custom-made stud with a loop on it to substitute for the hole in my ear. It's difficult to explain, but basically, the stud can go in as normal, and then the bar feeds through the loop on the stud instead of passing through my skin. I just need to speak to the piercer/piercist and find out if its viable, and find a jewellers that can make the stud.
