Ok, so I started a new job, and i have money now. so, i want to cross something off my list of things to do and getting metal shoved into my face has always been pretty high up there. Through fear and lack of funds i've never gotten it done before. I'm waiting to see if the boss says its cool.

In the meantime, im curious who's got piercings where? any horror stories? please share!

also, sorry ive been gone, its good to be back

I've got one piercing, and typical me, if it isn't the most painful one you can get for a guy. No, not that one. Actually it's my left nipple. The guy did a bit of a bad job of it, he went to deep and at a slight angle, and gave me the wrong size bar to boot. I'm currently contemplating removing it, letting it heal and getting it redone, when I can spare the cash.

I have an eyebrow ring. Didn't cost much and wasn't painfull. It's a pain in the ass to find an employer that doesn't have a problem with it.

I don't have any. Never gotten the chance. I want to pierce my tongue. And maybe my lip or something.

Tiny discreet little jewelled ones, two in each ear, one in nose, one in eyebrow.

Latter was done in front of a bloody giant mirror on an empty stomach, piercer wandered off halfway through when plastic tube was still inserted (admittedly to get something for me to throw up in - who'd expect a giant mirror though?).

I don't half love it though. It's nearly grown out though, so still debating whether to do it again.

My sister had her nipple done, for free because she was a G. She never told the piercer her age though...

I used to have my left ear pierced, I was such a rebel...in a conformist sort of way.

I'm actually thinking about getting that one for my birthday.

@vagrant. I have a lip ring. There's a trick to getting a job with facial piercings: Take it out for interviews and showing up to work.
I was put off getting THAT one by a friend who had it saying he couldn't pee standing up any more. Its the only real advantage guys have...
Vagrant, you can buy clear plastic doohickeys that keep the hole from healing over and look ok for work. My ex used them for when she was doing her pysch nursing.

I have three rings in my bottom lip, snakebites and one dead center, and 0g gauged ears.
I doubt future employers will like my taste in jewelry.

In my youth, because I am positively venerable now, I had six piercings in my ears and one in my nose. I only wear two now, in the cartilage of my left ear.

I've heard that eyebrow piercings eventually work their way lose, although having never had one myself, I'm not sure how true that is.

I got my ears pierced 25 years ago and discovered the joy of metal allergies. No cheap jewelry, no expensive jewelry either. Stainless steel, surgical steel, gold, it didn't matter. I finally gave up fighting it about 18 years ago and quit wearing them. They still haven't healed up right. I envy people who can wear piercings, though it's probably lucky I can't or I'd look like a voodoo doll, or at least have my eyebrows done. My friends have some beautiful piercings. I'm just stuck doing dumb things with my hair instead. I'm going to try to get my boss to let me dye it, but I don't think Special Effects Electric Blue qualifies as "business casual."

Electric Blue hair is totally awesome. But then again, I have a penchant for hair colours like that - hot pink, purple, bright red, white, etc.

My sister is a piercer and she's always hassling me to get something done. I will at some point, when I decide what I want and where (probably get a tat at the same time)

I've had several in my ears. Got rid of them eventually, because contact sports and piercings don't mix very well.

I wear a stud in my left ear. I once thought about getting a labret (between your lower lip and chin, center) but I think getting used to it and eating and all that would be a pain.

if you get that one get an apadravya, not the pa

as for me i got both ears, tongue and both nipples, my left one hurt more than the right cause it was done second and i didn't have as cool of a picture to stare at for that one, fire evacuation codes isn't exciting as a naked tattooed lady

i don't think i could get another one, not sure where i'd get it, really not sure if i want to brave an apadravya

Let's see. Almost within three months of me being evicted from the Army, I got my ears pierced. Two in the left, one in the right. I like the way it looks because the asymmetry of it. I later got my left nipple pierced because I have a tattoo on my left chest, starts up by the shoulder, goes down over the nipple (where it breaks just above and then starts back up below) and ends just above belly button level on the left side. So the nipple ring on the left kind of fit in with it.

The earrings didn't hurt at all, and while the nipple ring was a bit sore while doing it (just a sharp pain), that was replaced almost within an hour with a weird hypersensitivity. That lasted several months before I got used to it, but every now and then (in the wrong moments) that would come back. I eventually took that out because it just didn't feel like it was healing right. I may get the right one done later, but for now, I'm content with my three earrings.

Might actually inspire confidence in clients. If I see someone in a low-level job who looks like they've lost a fight with a nail gun, I think "Dumb ass". But if I see that same person in a higher level, responsible position I think "Wow! This person must be incredibly valuable, smart and talented for their employer to put up with that!" Although actually I like blue or purple or pink or bright red hair (except those weird faint pastel washes on little old ladies.) And of course your mileage may vary - when my aunt sold for Motorola she had some clients that wouldn't deal with a woman at all.

Weird factoid - the two and one ear rings used to be a way for lesbians to recognize each other, until all the straights picked up the habit. Weird that a straight guy should know that...
